BackgroundAcne is a chronic inflammation of the pilosebaceous units that occurs most in adolescence and manifests itself as comedones, papules, pustules, or nodules and cysts. Pitted or pigmented scars may follow when the lesion disappear. For most of the patients, acne tends to disappear after puberty. In recent years, because of the quickening pace of people's lives, the increasing work pressure, environmental pollution and the abuse of cosmetics, the number of patients with acne problems after puberty gradually increases. The acne appeared after puberty is called post-adolescent acne. Among which, the one without history of acne in puberty is called tardive-acne. The onset of it is after the age of 25, mostly affected female, with scattered, nodular lesions, mostly mild to moderate. The pathogenesis of tardive-acne is more complex than the acne during puberty, and conventional treatment doesn't work well.Currently, the pathogenesis of tardive-acne is still unclear in modern medicine, but is related to the disorder of sex hormone levels, hypersteatosis, hyperkeratinization and the propagation of bacteria. The treatment is designed for the pathogeny, such as normalising hormona, shedding into the pore to prevent blockage, killing bacteria and anti-inflammatory effects, which can come along with the optical treatment. In addition, considered most of the patients are professional women, who required a certain routine skin care and make-up, as incorrect use of cosmetics can cause or even worsen acne, choosing the right cosmetics and having proper skin care guide is particularly important for the prognosis. In TCM, the tardive-acne can be sorted to the "lungs wind acne" category. Since there is no documentary description for the tardive-acne in ancient China, modern scholars haven't come to a conclusion about the pathogenesis. However, most scholars still have an idea about the factors, the location of the disease and the clinical manifestation. The factors are heat, blood stasis and phlegm. The locations of the disease are heart, liver, lung, kidney. The clinical manifestation is not simply excess syndrome or heat syndrome any more, but the combination of excess and deficiency. The traditional method of cleaning the lungs and clearing the heat is less effective, which may have something to do with that the pathogenesis of this disease is more complex than adolescent acne. This study suggests that female tardive-acne is related to the disorder of the Chong Meridian and the Ren Meridian. By the observation and analysis of the Chong and Ren Meridian regulation acupuncture on women in the clinical efficacy of acne, this study may prove a worthy treatment for female tardive-acne.ObjectiveTo observe if there is different between the clinical effect of acupuncture with regulating the Chong and Ren, and common acupuncture in treating the female tardive-acne.MethodsTo recruit 60 patients according the standard and use randomized controlled trial divide the patients into two groups.30 patients for the treatment group and 30 patients for the control group. The patients in treatment group were adopted acupuncture with regulating Chong and Ren, while the patients in control group were adopted common acupuncture with. To observe how these two treatments affect skin of female with tardive-acne, such as the inhibition of the lesions and the recovery of the skin after the lesions appeared, by use the extent of skin lesions subsided as the observed indicators. The observation last for two months. (One month is one course of treatment.) All data are analyzed by SPSS13.0.ResultsBoth treatments are curative effect. But the effect of acupuncture with regulating Chong and Ren is more significant. (P<0.05).ConclusionEither acupuncture with regulating Chong and Ren, or common acupuncture can reduced the number of the facial lesions of the tardive-acne in female. However, acupuncture with regulating Chong and Ren is more effective, worthy of promotion.
