Study On The Menopausal Syndrome Rating Scale Of Disease And Combinated Syndrome

BackgroundTill now, the curative effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine was not accepted broadly, one of the most curial factors is lack of acceptable research method for evaluating the traditional medicine. And therefore, the research for scientific, objective, systemic evaluating system is needed. Deep exploration of developing an integration of the disease and syndrome has an important significance for establishing the evaluating system.ObjectiveThe research aims to explore the Chinese medicine evaluating methodology of curative effect with disease carrier of the menopausal syndrome. Scientific methods such as content analysis, psychometrics, and clinical epidemiology are to be introduced and applied under the guidance of the Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and being established in the basic features and advantage of Traditional Chinese Medicine. A menopausal syndrome evaluating scale is then established in line with the Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treats features.MethodsIn the form of questionnaire, the TCM patterns of the 959 patients with menopausal syndrome were evaluated. The research results were classified by six different TCM patterns (Kidney yin deficiency, kidney yang deficiency, kidney yin and yang deficiency, disharmony between heart and kidney, Yang deficiency of spleen and kidney, yin deficiency of liver and kidney) from literature review. The patterns scale item was analyzed and sifted when applying entries distribution investigation method, relative analysis, t-test, and resolution coefficient method, factor analysis method with Software spss13.0. Those with poor representativeness, independence, distinguish ability and individuation scale with various patterns ware deleted. Factor analysis method to analyze its construct validity and common factor and its representative entries were concluded and then the six individuation scales were merged and finally menopausal syndrome scale was generated, in the expectation of evaluating the TCM curative effect objectively.ResultsThe questionnaire consists of three grades structure and the first grade structure is the common module, which is the commonest and the most typical symptom item of menopausal syndrome, patients with any of the pattern will be assessed. The second and third structures are individuation module and it is the individuation scales with various syndrome patterns. The second grade structure was classified by Yin and Yang; they are Yang deficiency, Yin deficiency and Yin and Yang deficiency module. The third grade structure was classified by the organs including heart, liver, spleen, and kidney and other different syndrome module. Finally, reliability assessment was applied on the internal uniformity reliability, reliability assessment. Results indicate that the scale has good validity and reliability.ConclusionThe most significant feature of the menopausal syndrome scale is the introduction of the syndrome pattern to the curative effect scale. And in the future, during the Chinese medicine clinical curative effect evaluation, the diagnosis and treatment will be determined by the doctors first. The scale of the menopausal syndrome evaluating scale is filled out and the equivalent syndrome module index is picked up to have statistic analysis and comparison before and after the treatment in the expectation of evaluating the TCM curative effect objectively.
