Objective:To observe the clinical therapeutic efficacy of Tuina manipulation therapy in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR).Methods:60 cases of CSR were randomly assigned into treatment group (Group A) and control group (Group B), with 30 cases in each group. In Group A, Tuina manipulation plus traction therapy was applied. In the Group B, traditional acupuncture plus traction therapy was used. The improvement of the clinical symptoms and signs (with simplified Mc Gill table scores) and the changes of the electromyogram (EMG) before and after the treatments were observed. Results:In the treatment group, among the 30 cases, 21 were clinically cured and the total effective rate was 96.67%; in the control group,13 were clinically cured and the total effective rate was only 83.33%, with significant difference between the two groups. After the treatments, the PRI sensation scores, PRI emotion scores, VAS and PPI were significantly different compared with that before treatment. (P<0.01-0.05)Conclusion:Both the two therapies in both the two groups could effectively treat the clinical symptoms of CSR, alleviate the pain and promote the clinical recovery. The clinical therapeutic efficacy in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group, which was much more popular and acceptable among the patients.
