The Study Of Dissemination Of AIDS-related Knowledge By Text For Construction Workers

Objectives:Preliminarily to identify and understand the AIDS-related knowledge level of construction workers for Construction workers, to explore feasibility of AIDS-related knowledge diffusion by Text, to analize influence factors of construction workers' Text response rate, to provide basic information for carrying out short message AIDS-related knowledge dissemination in the future.Methods:The study site was selected by using some methods such as referring literatures and documents, discussion of professors and the field survey. In cooperation with the CDC on a County and Safety departments on construction site, Yunnan. The survey of demand for Text was carried out. Furthermore, construction workers with cell phone and knowing how to send Text on a Hydropower Station was recruited as participant and a Text-based survey was performed by sending a variety of AIDS knowledges. We collect and statistical analysis the data of the construction workers'AIDS related knowledge level and short message response rate.Results and Discoveries:(1) Baseline survey shown that construction workers understand somewhat three major routes of transmission of HIV (blood transfusion, mother to child transmission, sexual transmission) whose correct answer rate was 80.0%,84.2%,79.2%, respectively in 2008.(2) TEXT dissemination of knowledge results shown 91.8% surveyed construction workers considered AIDS prevention by Text was helpful and 49.2% construction workers considered 3-5 Text Monthly is more appropriate in 2008(3)Research terminated,28 construction workers whose education degree most are a junior high school(64.3%) and Most of who are technical workers and unskilled workers(39.3%,42.9%, respectively) withdrew research.(4) Construction workers'Text response rate are generally high, the average response rate is 29.9%. (5) Response rate of Text including AIDS-related knowledge messages, other diseases related knowledge messages, safety related knowledge messages,holiday reminder type information and jokes is 30.3%,30.0%,19.1%,30.2%,respectively. Text response rate of AIDS-related knowledge messages, other diseases related knowledge messages, holiday reminder type information and jokes is higher than that of safety related knowledge messages, and all rate difference is more than 10%.(6) Construction workers' Text response rate was 32.2%,26.0%,22.9%,33.2%, respectively, in the morning, noon, afternoon, and evening. Text response rate in the morning is higher than in the noon, afternoon by 6.2%%,9.3%, Text response rate in the evening is higher than in the noon, afternoon by 7.2%,10.3%, respectively.(7) Text response rate of construction workers is A dynamic change trends over time. TEXT response rate rise gradually, it present two peaks in 2009 July and December, after 2009 May and July 2009 site visit points. Text response rate of construction workers whose education degree are a primary school, a unior high school, a high school, college or better range from 8.3% to 20.0%, from 12.3% to 26.8%, from 33.1% to 51.0%, from 38.9% to 56.7%, respectively.(8) Different education degree Construction workers' Text response rate is different. Text response rate of Construction workers aged <20 years,20-30 years,30-40 years, 40-50 years,>50 years is 13.9%,31.1%,30.1%,31.8%,32.4%. Text response rate of Construction workers aged <20 years is lower than 20-30 years,30-40 years,40-50 years by 17.2%,16.2%,17.9%.(10) After study carried out, the construction workers' AIDS related knowledge score rise. AIDS main achievements constitute proportion change medium primarily (2008) into honors primarily (2010).The proportion of superior grades construction workers is 41.2 percent in 2010.(11) The range of Information by actively consulting was very broad.It included STD/AIDS related knowledge, other diseases related knowledge such as Common diseases (influenza, headache, etc.), infectious diseases (hepatitis,tuberculosis, skin diseases, etc.), occupational diseases,chronic illness,and so on. The proportion of this is 50%.Recommendations:The recommendations for lack of information channel through while workers obtained HIV/AIDS knowledge were as follows. Firstly, fully learn the urgency about increasing AIDS information channel of construction workers on a Hydropower Station; Secondly, fully understand advantages and disadvantages of by TEXT to disseminate AIDS knowledge;Thirdly, it is necessary to combined with population characteristics for dissemination AIDS knowledge by Text; Finally, find all factors for Text reply rate and cohort retention rate of construction workers, achieve better effect on dissemination of AIDS knowledge by Text.
