Objective:To explore the effects of moxibustion adjusting protein metabolism and provide experimental basis on moxibustion therapies of disease of spleen system,we observe the effects of moxibustion on points of Zusanli etc on spleen deficiency symptoms,content of serum D-xylose,pepsin activity, prealbumin,weight of main visceras,organ coefficients and concentration of protein in homogeneization of tissue within the each viscera in spleen deficiency rats.Methods:Healthy SPF SD rats were randomly allocated to blank group (group A), spleen deficiency group (group B), moxibustion group (group C) and sijunzi decoction group (group D). A model of spleen deficiency was made by Dahuang. Group A was gavaged with distilled water, 1ml/100g, twice everyday for 14 days. GroupB,C and D were gavaged with 4℃200% Dahuang concentration, 1ml/100g, twice everyday for 14 days. On the first day of the experiment, Group A and B were bounded 30 minute,not moxibusted; Group C was alternating moxibusted two groups of points 30 minutes which were Zhongwan, Guanyuan, Zusanli(left or right),and Pishu(left or right), Weishu(left or right) on alternate days. Group D was bounded 30 minutes,not moxibusted,meanwhile gavaged with Sijunzi Decoction 1.2 ml every day for 14 days.Observed spleen deficiency symptoms according to the Animal Model of Spleen Deficiency.The contents of serum D-xylose was determined with Trihy-droxy benzene.Pepsin activity was measured by colorimetry;prealbumin levels was tested by ELISA.The electionic balance weighed the weight of the viscera,then calculated the organ coefficients.Concentration of protein in homogeneization of tissue was examined by Bradford.Results:1,There was no statistically significant difference in weight before the experiment(p>0.05).After 14 days,each groups gained weight,intra-group comparisons showed very significant difference between pre-and post-treatment (P<0.01). Weight growth in group B was significant lower than other groups. There was significant difference in group A and B(P<0.01);and group C and D had very significant difference with group B(P<0.01).2,There was no statistically significant difference in daily feeding amounts before the experiment(p>0.05).After 14 days, group A,C and D increased, intra-group comparisons showed very significant difference between pre-and post-treatment in group B(P<0.01).There was significant difference in group A and B(P<0.01);and group C and D had very significant difference with group B(P<0.01). 3,There was no statistically significant difference in the duration of trailing the tail of rats before the experiment(p>0.05).After 14 days, intra-group comparisons showed very significant difference between pre-and post-treatment in group A,B and D(P<0.05 or P<0.01). There was significant difference in group A and B(P<0.01);and group C and D had very significant difference with group B(P<0.01).4,There was no statistically significant difference in the score of spleen deficiency before the experiment(p>0.05).After14 days,intra-group comparisons showed very significant difference between pre-and post-treatment in group B(P<0.01).There was significant difference in group A and B(P<0.01);and group C and D had very significant difference with group B(P<0.01).5,After 14 days, there was significant difference in content of serum D-xylose,prealbumin,pepsin activity, weight of main viscera,organ coefficient, concentration of protein in homogeneization of tissue within the each viscera between group A and B(P<0.05 or P<0.01);and group C and D had very significant difference with group B(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion:1,Moxibustion can restore the change of the weight and daily feeding amounts, and can lessen the lack of power degree caused by spleen deficiency2,Moxibustion can improve the content of Serum D-xylose and PA, enhance the function of gastrointestinal protein absorption, improve the nutrition status of spleen deficiency rats.3,Moxibustion can improve pepsin activity and the digestive ability of gastric, stimulate absorption of protein, thus increasing the weight of main viscera, organ coefficient and concentration of protein in homogeneization of tissue within the each viscera in spleen deficiency rats.4,Moxibustion can adjust protein metabolism just like Sijunzi Decoction in spleen deficiency rats. The study confirmed that the mechanism of tonifying spleen and stomach may be related to adjust protein metabolism. To a certain degree,it provides experimental basis of clinical appropriate use of moxibustion on the prevention and cure of diseases of spleen system.
