Survey On The Clinical Characteristics Of Paediatric Allergic Rhinitis

Objective To investigate the clinical symptom, precipitating factor, associated symptom, family history and life quality of pediatric patients with allergic rhinitis,analyze the clinical symptom characteristic.Methods A questionnaire survey on pediatric AR patients since June 2008 to June 2010, one hundred and forty-eight pediatric AR patients were divided into 2 groups, group A(n=43) included children the six and under six years old, group B(n=105) included children aged from seven to fifteen. The extent of clinical symptom was assessed by visual analog ue scale.Results The incidence rate of sneezing,runny nose,stuffy nose, itchy nose were 89.19%(132/148),93.24%(138/148),91.89%(136/148),73.65%(109/148) respectively. The incidence rate of itchy eyes, red eyes, swollen eyes, runny eyes were 79.73%(118/148),41.89%(62/148),22.30%(33/148),41.22%(61/148) respectively. The incidence rate of breathlessness, gasping, cough, thorax pressure sense were 12.84%(19/148),5.41%(8/148),47.30%(70/148),4.05%(6/148) respectively. Preschool age children has more severe rhinocleisis, more severe cough and less rhinorrhea than school age children. (x2=29.194, P<0.05), (x2=12.277, P<0.05), (x2=16.904, P<0.05), according to the classification criteria of ARIA 2008,preschool children has more mild intermittent AR and less moderate-severe persistent AR than school age children. The precipitating factor of common cold, passive smoking, fitment, climate, environment factors were 22.30%(33/148),0%(0/148),5.41%(8/148),16.22%(24/148), 3.38%(5/148), the others was 4.73%(7/148), no obviously precipitating factor was 47.96%(71/148). The rate of parent or parents who had allergic disease history was 11.47%(17/148)。Quality of sleep that 66.22%(98/148) were upset and 62.16%(92/148) had no cathexis.Conclusions Six and under six years old children have different clinical symptom characteristic from the seven to fifteen years old children, and we got some clinical data of paediatric AR patients, those were beneficial to the diagnose and therapy of paediatric AR.
