Objective in this study, by measuring MMP-9, hsCRP, ABI levels in patients , analyse the relationship between these indicators and sub-clinical atherosclerosis and investigate their clinical value. Methods In accordance with carotid artery intima-media thickness , 106 cases of patients were divided into control group(20 patients), IMT thickening group(45 patients), plaque group(41 patients). Record three groups patients age, sex, height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, blood pressure and blood biochemical parameters (mainly glucose, creatinine, TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C). And to use automatic atherosclerosis detector VP-1000 Determination of ABI, while application of double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay determination of MMP-9,hsCRP levels. Results The plaque group and intimal thickening group of MMP-9 was significantly higher than control group, and the plaque group were significantly higher than that intimal thickening group, three groups comparison was significant (P <0.05). HsCRP level of plaque group than intimal thickening group and healthy controls, while intimal thickening was higher than healthy control group, comparisons between the three groups was not significant (P> 0.05).Plaque group and intimal thickening group TC, LDL-C levels higher than the healthy control group and there is statistically significant (P <0.05), the remaining indicators (TG, HDL-C, ABI,creatinine, glucose) between the two groups comparison were not statistically significant (P> 0.05). MMP-9 correlation analysis showed no correlation with the ABI. MMP-9 and TC, LDL showed a positive correlation coefficients were r = 0.301, r = 0.350 and P <0.01. MMP-9 is also a positive correlation with systolic blood pressure (r = 0.315 and P <0.01).Conclusions The serum level of MMP-9 may be the early indicators of atherosclerosis. MMP-9 in peripheral blood will be more beneficial to find subclinical atherosclerosis patients from thus early diagnosis and early intervention.
