Objective:In order to observe the post-operative infection in internal fixation of long bones fracture. Methods:Filtering cases of long bones fracture in 1st affiliated hospital of guangxi medical university from January 2003 to January 2010, due to the invention of VSD in 2007, the treatment of using antibiotics bone cement has decreased, and in 2008 it is used extensively. In order to minimize the affecting in comparison,32 patients from January 2003 to December 2006 are in group A (previous treatment method); while the 24 patients from june 2008 to june 2010 are in group B (new treatment method). Compared the effectiveness of treatment of the two groups and the wound healing and recurrence situation. Results:There are no significant differences on the two groups data, however they are comparable. In group A of 32 patients, reccurence occur in 15 patients, amputation in 1 patient, healing rate 53.1%, reccurence rate 46.9%; In group B of 24 patients, follow up from 4-24 months, mean follow up time 14 months, recurrence in 5 patients, amputation in 1 patients, healing rate 79.2%, recurrence rate 20.8%. there are differences between the two groups effectiveness with B group is better than A group. Conclusion:Now the use of new treatment method can effectively control the infection and repair wounds, reduce recurrence.
