Objective:evaluating objectively the clinical efficacy of modified xiao yao san in treating diabetic depressive disorder with the syndrome of liver qi stagnation and spleen deficiency, and try to find the relationship between DM and emotional factor in TCM.Methods:adopting experimental methods of random and control,60 eligible patients were divided into control group(30 cases) which just remain the basic treatment and diabetic hypoglycemic drug therapy and treatment group(30cases) which was added the decoction of chinese medicinal herbs. setting 12 weeks as one therapeutic course0 compared the change of clinical symptoms and sign of TCM, FPG,2hPG, HAMD, DSQL befor and after treatment between the two groups.Rsults:1. treatment group is more effective comparing with control proup in reliving symptoms and sign of TCM.2. both the clinical cure rate and effective rate of TCM about diabetic pressive disorder in treatment group are superior to the control group.3. the observation results of integration of HAMD(Hamilton depression scale)shows no significant difference between before and after treatment in control group. but there is statistical difference in treatment group. Comparing with control group, there is significant difference after treatment.4. treatment group is much better than control group in effect of treating depressive disorder.5. about the integration of DSQL(diabetes QOL scale), there is no difference between before and after treatment in control group, while there are significant differences in physical and psychological dimensions between before and after treatment in treatment group and between the two groups after treatment, which means treatment group is more effective in improving quality of life of diabetes patients, especially in physical and psychological dimensions.6. the observation results of FPG,2hPG and HBA1C show no obvious difference in control group, which decline significantly in treatment group between before and after treatment.Conclusion:modified xiao yao san has the effect of relieving the symptoms and signs of diabetic depressive disorder with the syndrome of stagnation of liver qi and deficiency of spleen, improving quality of life of diabetes patients obviously and lowing glucose, which indicate that treating depressive disorder is necessary for diatetes patients and reveal the relationship between DM and emotional factor in TCM.
