Objective::To investigate prevalent characteristic of hyperuricemia and the relationship between hyperuricemia and metablolic syndrome. Methods:Investigate the physical examination population of MeiZhou People's Hospital between January,2010 and June,2010. Diagnosis criterion of hyperuricemia is based on the Diagnosis and Cure Guide of the Primary gout designed by Chinese Medical Association, and the diagnosis criterion of metablolic syndrome followed the criterion recommended by the association which focused on adult un-normal blood-fat defence-cure. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between uric acid and metabolics syndrome and its components. Results:Study 1 Investigation of prevalent rate of hyperuricemia and its risk factors1,The prevalence of hyperuricemia was 20.1%,22.2% for man and 12.3% for women, respectively(p<0.001).The mean level of uric acid in males was higher significantly than that in the females[(356.43±86.16) umol/L, (269.31±79.64) umol/L,P<0.0001].2,The prevalent rate of hyperuricernia increased with the age(trend test p<0.0001). Similar trend can be seen in male and female population.3,The main concomitant diseases of hyperuricemia were hyperlipemia(82.4%), then over weight and obesity(75.0%), abdomen obesity(24.7%), diabetes(17.6%), and hypertension ((13.2%),4,In a logistic regression model, age(OR=1.12,95%CI:1.09-1.21),male gender(OR=1.47, 95%CI:1.13-2.53),obesity(OR=3.67,95%CI:2.20-6.12),abdomen obesity(OR=3.59, 95%CI:2.18-5.90),hyperglycaemia(OR=1.98,95%CI:1.41-3.43),hypertriglyceridemia(OR=1.82,9 5%CI:1.04-2.49),hypercholesteremia(OR=3.05,95%CI:2.17-4.74), hypo-high-density-lipoproteinemia (OR=1.25,95%CI:1.01-1.74), hypertension (OR=1.14, 95%CI:1.11-1.87), alcohol (OR=1.45,95%CI:1.21-1.65) and the purine diet (OR=1.14,95%CI: 1.07-1.83) were associated with increased risk of hyperuricemia.Study 2 Relationship of serum uric acid concentration with metabolic syndrome and its components 1,The prevalent rate of hyperuricemia that was significantly higher in MS group was 38.1%. The prevalent rate of hyperuricemia that was significantly higher in non-MS group was 16.3%. The prevalent rate of hyperuricemia was significantly higher in MS group than that in non-MS group (p<0.01). Not only in MS group but also in non-MS group the man had higher proportion of hyperuricemia than the female.2,The level of uric acid was increasing with the number of the components of MS (liner trend for p<0.01)3,The prevalence of MS was3.9%,9.2%,17.1%,26.8% across the interquartiles (liner trend for p 0.0001). Similar trend can be seen in male and female population.4,Correlation analysis demonstrated that serum uric acid level was positively correlated with BMI,waist, triglyceride, total cholesterol, creatinine, blood pressure, but had no connection with HDL-C.5,With the increase of the level of uric acid, the proportion of hypertension, obesity, abdomen obesity, high triglyceride, abnormal glucose increased significantly (p<0.0001). Similar trend could not be seen in low HDL-C.Conelusion:As the development of economy and the change of living habits, the prevalence of hyperuricemia was higher in in physical examination population in Meizhou City. The statistical significant risk factors for hyperuricemia were hyperglycaemia, high triglyceride, high total cholesterol, hypo-high-density-lipoproteinemia,age, male gender, hypertension, obesity, purine diet and alcoho。Serum uric acid intimately related with metabolic syndrome and its components such as obesity, dyslipdemia and so on. So high uric acid level maybe an important factor of the MS.
