ObjectiveThe purpose of this research is to explore the effectiveness of Supportive Psychotherapy on self-perceived burden and depression and anxiety of cancer patients and analyze the feasibility of Supportive Psychotherapy in clinical nursing, so as to provide a practicable reference to clinical nurses.Methods60 cancer patients in oncology department of hospital of People's Liberation Army from April to December 2009 were chosen. Each patient signs the informed consent.The patients were divided into the experiment group and control group randomly. The experiment group get Supportive Psychotherapy intervention The control group just get routine therapy and nursing. We get the scores by the questionnaire of BDI,BAI, Self-Perceived Burden Scale and Mood Report Scale during the therapy. At last contrast the scores in the two groupsResults1.The experiment group score come from the Self-Perceived Burden Scale is lower than control group, and the difference is significant (P<0.01)2. The scores of the BAI and BDI of the experiment group is lower than control group, the difference is significant (P<0.01)3. The scores of the Mood Report Scale of the experiment group is lower than control group, the difference is significant (P<0.01)4.In the experiment group, the score is low step by step during the therapy There is significant difference in the 3 time point (P<0.01)5. In the contrl group, there isn't significant difference in the 3 time point (P>0.01) ConclusionsSupportive Psychotherapy can relieve self-perceived burden and anxiety and depression in cancer patients. It is good for treatment and recovery. The study confirm that Supportive Psychotherapy is benefit to cancer patients.
