Gratitude education plays a positive role in the cultivation of medical students. As is known to us all, gratitude is always regarded as a respected virtue in Chinese traditional culture. It is a kind of cognition, feeling and behavior that shows we sincerely appreciate the help from the society and want to repay the society. In higher education institutions, gratitude education is also considered as an important component of moral education. Through humanistic education, educators makes the students recognize the importance of gratitude and kindness in a certain way. With the rapid development of medical science and technology, medical students are now required to not only have a good command of basic medical knowledge and skills, but also establish noble moral goals, cultivate their own gratitude consciousness, and ultimately make it as the norms of behavior for their future career.In this paper, the author explores gratitude education on medical students in higher education from the perspective of Maxist humanism. The author holds that we should learn from the essence of gratitude tradition from both oriental and occidental culture so as to conduct gratitude education according to the characteristics of medical students. The author also points out that only when we standardize and systemize gratitude education in a specified and scientific way, improve and establish the evaluation system of gratitude education, and then combine the evaluation system with the self-discipline of medical students, can we truly finalize gratitude education.
