Objective:To investigate the expression of VEGF and IL-8 ineosinophils-dominated and neutrophils-dominated nasal polyps and analyze their role in the pathogenesis of nasal polyps.Method:In June 2007 to December 2009 years in our hospital of the endoscopic surgery more than 240 cases of nasal polyps specimens of patients with strict screening, a complete clinical data were. paraffin embedded tissue.Samples drawn 2 weeks before, and none of glucocorticoid anti-histamine drugs. Elected to eosinophil infiltration mainly by neutrophil infiltration and dominated the 32 cases of nasal polyps specimens, in which eosinophil infiltration consisting mainly of 21 males and 10 females, aged 14-72 years, mean 50.5 years; to neutrophil infiltration mainly of 19 males and 12 females, aged 27-69 years, mean 48.3 years; control group selected from the septum alone in patients with normal nasal mucosa of 30 cases, not with allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinitis, chronic purulent sinusitis.Dominated by eosinophils in nasal polyps of 32 cases, mainly of polymorphonuclear leukocytes in 32 patients with nasal polyps and normal nasal mucosa in 30 cases. The normal middle turbinate mucosa and nasal polyps in 10% formalin fixed, paraffin embedded, sliced. Detected by immunohistochemistry of vascular endothelial growth factor and interleukin-8 in the nasal mucosa and in normal eosinophils and neutrophils in nasal polyps.Results:VEGF and IL-8 in normal nasal mucosa showed a weak positive, in eosinophils and neutrophils in nasal polyps were positive or strong positive expression. VEGF in eosinophils in nasal polyp mainly showed strong positive expression in neutrophils in nasal polyps were mainly positive; IL-8 to neutrophils in nasal polyps were strongly dominated expression, in order to eosinophil-based positive expression in nasal polyps.the expression of VEGF and IL-8 in nasal polyps were positively correlated.Conclusion:VEGF in eosinophils in nasal polyps mainly for high expression, IL-8 to neutrophils in nasal polyps mainly highly expressed, VEGF and IL-8 in nasal polyps were positively correlated. Description of two pathological types of different pathogenesis of nasal polyps, VEGF and IL-8 in the pathogenesis of nasal polyps play an important role.
