Objectives:We sought to investigate the correlation among EGFR expression,VEGF expression,and eosinophil infiltration in nasal polyp tissues.Material and Methods:The study included 30 nasal polyps tissue samples and 17middle turbinate mucosa samples(The control)from Chinese patients undergoing routine procedures from January 2016 to September 2018.At the same time,excluding nasal polyps specimens according to strict criteria.Hematoxylin-eosin staining and immunohistochemistry were used to detect eosinophil infiltration and the expression of EGFR and VEGF,analyzed by SPSS22.0 software correlation between EGFR and VEGF expression and infiltration of eosinophils.The positive expression of EGFR and VEGF was compared by Chi-squareχ2test.The number of eosinophil infiltration and the positive blood vessels,glands,and epithelial cells were compared by Mann-Whitney U test.The correlation was analyzed by Spearman correlation.P<0.05 was the difference Statistical significance.Results:A total of 30 cases of nasal polyps were included,including 22 males and 8females,with an average age of 49.9 years.Among the 17 cases of the middle turbinate mucosa control group,there were 12 males and 5 females,with an average age of 40.2 years.The average number of eosinophil infiltration in nasal polyp group(52.26±38.83/HPF)was significantly higher than that in the control group(4.44±2.79/HPF),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01);The expression rates of strong staining of EGFR and VEGF in nasal polyps were higher,23.3%and86.7%,respectively,and there was a statistically significant difference with the control group(5.9%,5.9%)(P<0.01);analysis by spearman correlation results showed the expression of EGFR in nasal polyps and eosinophil infiltration was positively correlated(r_s=0.84,P<0.01),and the expression of VEGF in nasal polyp and eosinophil infiltration was positively correlated(r_s=0.69,P<0.01)There was a positive correlation between VEGF and EGFR expression in nasal polyps(r_s=0.57,P=0.001).Conclusion:The expression of EGFR and VEGF in nasal polyp group was significantly increased,and the content of eosinophil infiltration was high.Increased expression of EGFR and VEGF may be a key factor in promoting the inflammatory response of eosinophil infiltration in nasal polyps.Overexpression of EGFR and VEGF and increased eosinophil infiltration play a key role in the pathogenesis of nasal polyps. |
