The Clinic Study About Treating Of Pleural Effusion Caused By Lung Cancer By XuanFeiLiShui Decoction Combined With Chemotherapy Through Pleural Perfusion

Objective:To observe and evaluate short-term effects of treating the pleural effusion caused by lung cancer with an integrative method made up of XuanFeiLiShui prescriptions combined with intrapleural chemotherapyMethod:This is a prospective stochastic comparison research.60 cases of eligible cases (pleural effusion caused by lung cancer) were distributed into a group made up of 29 cases treated with XuanFeiLiShui prescriptions combined with intrapleural chemotherapy and another group made up of 31 cases treated with pleural chemotherapy alone. It would observe and evaluate the clinical results considering the diffusion of pleural effusion, main symptoms, quality of life and adverse reactions.Results:â‘ Comparing the Baseline data before treatments, there was no significant difference (P> 0.05), this shows that Two groups were comparable in the aspect of age, gender, amount of pleural effusion, TCM Syndrome, KPS score.â‘¡Comparing short term effects (the situation of pleural effusion), the effective rate of a group treated with XuanFeiLiShui prescriptions combined with intrapleural chemotherapy and another group treated with pleural chemotherapy alone (CR+PR) is 65.5% and 38.7%, It showed statistically significant difference (p<0.05), which indicated treatment group has better curative effect;â‘¢Comparing the Relief of clinical symptoms and the quality of patients'life (KPS), here were significant difference ((P<0.05), which shows integrative treatment is better than pleural chemotherapy alone.â‘£Talking about toxicity and side effects, there was no adverse reactions worse than III degrees, no damage to liver and kidney function in two groups. The main side effects were gastrointestinal reaction and bone marrow suppression, and are mainly I degree. It was considered that side effects were mainly related to chemotherapy toxicity. Chinese Herbs had nothing with the adverse effects, This integrative treatment is a very safe way.Conclusion:Comparing to pleural chemotherapy alone, integrative treatment could stop forming more pleural effusion and it could improve the short-term effects. At the same time, Integrative treatment is practically significant on the aspect of improving the quality of patients'life and relieving clinical symptoms. This integrative treatment which is a very safe way to treat this disease is worthy to be applied and popularized.
