Clinical Research On Treating Children Asthma In Remission With Ning Chuan Tie Point Application

BackgroundAsthma in children is one kind of intractable diseases in clinic, its nature is chronic inflammation of airway. Belongs to dyspnea syndrome and asthma syndrome. Crude herb moxibustion is a distinctive external treatment of Chinese medicine. Based on the meridian theory and herbs'action, it's effective in treating this disease. But it limits to the treatment time and operating skills on dog days. So, in this research, the treatment time was expanded to usual days, and observed its effect in clinic. In order to find a simple convenient and effective treatment mothod for children asthma in remission.ObjectiveTo research the effect of usual point application of Chinese herbs Ning Chuan Tie on asthma in children, to supply a simple convenient and effective treatment mothod for children asthma in remission and lay the foundation for its future clinic applicationMethods60cases of asthma children that accord to inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria were all from the the subsidiary hospital acupuncture department in-patient and out-patient clinic of Guangzhou university of Chinese medicine. Compared the two groups'sex, age, age of onset, course of disease and Chinese medical syndrome differentiation, through stastical analysis,no obvious difference(P＞0.05). This clinical observation was from Jan. to Dec. one year. All patients were seperated to two groups at random:treatment group (30cases), treated by usual point application;and control group (30 cases), treated by crude herb moxibustion on dog days. The treatment group first time point choice:Ding Chuan, Feng Men and Fei Shu. Second time:Da Zhui, Jue Yinshu and Pi Shu. Third time:Da Zhu, Shen Shu and Gao Huangshu. Fourth time: Tian Tu, Dan Zhong and Zhong Wan. Except for Da Zhui,Tian Tu and Dan Zhong, others were all bilateral. In usual time did the point application treatment, once every 10 days, four times as a a course. The points choice of control group was same with treatment group above, did point application treatment once on first (from 14th, July), middle (from 24th, July) and last (from 13 th, August) dog days and additional days (from23th, August), four times in all, applied on the points from one to three hours, according to patients bearance, no more treatment in the next clinical observation. When patients asthma attacked, gave anti-inflammation and relieving asthma treatments. From the first day of observation, surveyed the situation of patients asthma attacked and times of cold in the half year before point application. Then follow up by phone on time or attack-time treatment in outpatient, observed the times of patients got cold, asthma attacked and the general conditions of cough, dyspnea, sleep and activity when it attacked. Compared the symptoms and index of two groups, then analysed by SPSS 17.0 statistic software. Evaluated the effect after course over.ResultsFirst, in assessment of asthma symptoms, two groups all increased obviously compared with pre-treatment (P＜0.01), treatment group assessment is a bit lower than control group, but no obvious difference between two groups' effect(P >0.05). Second, in assessment of action, two groups both better than pre-treatment (P＜0.05), and treatment group assessment is slightly lower than control group, but no obvious difference between two groups' effect(P＞0.05). Third, according to the whole treatment effect, the treatment group effective rate is 84%, the control group effective rate is 88%, no obvious difference between two groups' effect(P＞0.05), it shows that usual point application group has similar effect with crude herb moxibustion group. After all, treatment group has similar effect with crude herb moxibustion in the assessment of bettering the symptoms and action of children asthma in remission. ConclusionThe herbs Ning Chuan Tie acts through herbs, point and time, it shows that this is a good effective treatment to treat children asthma in remission. If used in all the seasons of the year, this treatment could be a complement of crude herb moxibustion on dog days. It's good for clinic application.
