BackgroudA wealth of experience is accumulated in the field of cause of disease, pathogenesis, principle of treatment, and treatment based on syndrome differentiation of the lung cancer by the Chinese scholars through doing a lot of research and study, and combining with modern medicine. Remarkable achievement of treatment of the lung cancer by TCM is made.At present the TCM syndrome and treatment regular rule was basis of personal view, and it lacks of uniform rule. There was not any exact record about lung cancer in Chinese ancient literature, instead of other diseare or symptom, such as cough, chest pain, hemoptysis.It is not conducive to the development of TCM treatment of lung cancer.ObjectivesIn order to reveal the TCM syndrome and treatment regular rule of lung cancer, and provide a theoretical basis and clinical data for the research of the lung cancer,ancient literature of Qin Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty was collated and analyzed with methods of Chinese Medical Literature.MethodsThrough definiting the relevant of search terms, the clauses of lung cancer in the ancient literature of Qin Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty were entyied according to age, title, provision, treatment, prescription name, drugs. The datas of prescription name and drugs were entried again, and were analyzed by the methods-of Frequency Analysis, Cluster Analysis and Factor Analysis. The main treatment, the cause and the pathogenesis of lung cancer in different historical periods were summarized,. And the treatment in different historical periods was compared longitudinally.ResultThe relevant datas of lung cancer that were extracted in the literatures that lasted from Qin Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, including of a total of 310 decoctiongs,182 kings of Chinese materia medica, were analysed by the methods of Frequency Analysis, Cluster Analysis and Factor Analysis. Conclusion is that Strengthening body resistance, Expelling phlegm method, Regulating qi-flowing method, Superficies-resolving, Warming the interior and Formula for diuresis and diffusing dampness were the main methods of treatment before Yuan Dynasty, Strengthening body resistance, Expelling phlegm method, Regulating qi-flowing method, Formula for diuresis and diffusing dampness, Promoting blood circulation for removing blood statis, Clearing heat-toxin, and Warming the interior were the main methods of treatment in Ming Dynasty, Strengthening body resistance, Expelling phlegm method, Promoting blood circulation for removing blood stasis, Regulating qi-flowing method, Clearing heat-toxin, and Formula for diuresis and diffusing dampness were the main methods of treatment in Qin Dynasty.
