Background Psoriasis, the same name as "baibi" in traditional Chinese medicine, is a chronic illness that charactered by epidermis proliferation and Inflammation. Because of the unknown reason, difficult to treat, high relapse rate, for a long time, how to cure psoriasis become a major problem in the medical field and a hot point in the research field of dermatology. At present, adopting the method of Traditional Chinese Medicine External Treatment in treating progressive psoriasis vulgaris, we obtain a significant effect.Objective To observe the clinical effect and security of Traditional Chinese Medicine External Treatment in treating progressive psoriasis vulgaris , To explore the mechanism and provide the theoretical basis for enlarging the scope of application of this therapy。Methods Methods 60 patients of this experiment were stratified by randomized, single-blind, contrastive assigned to the treatment group and the control group, The treatment group was given zilong ointment smearing on the rash and the enema of TongFuXieRe, the control group was given Sulfur Ointment and the enema of TongFuXieRe.besides, The patients in the two groups were all treated with the soup of Chinese Medicine Psorisis Prescription No.1 and tripterygium glycosides, Four weeks for a cours, All patients were followed up for3 months. The changes of psoriasis area and severity index (PASI), clinical symptoms, Electrocardiography (ECG) and laboratory indexes were observed before and after treatment in both groups. adverse reaction during the course of treament was also recorded。Result 1. Comparing sex, age, course of disease and PASI scores before treatment, there were no significant difference between two groups.2. The PASI score has decreased after the treatment and it significantly compared before and after treatment by T test, the differences were statistically signify (P<0.01). Comparising the curative effctive of the two groups after treatment by Ttest, the difference is also the meaning of (P<0.05). Comparing symptoms like Itching, irritability, thirst, stool, urine, tongueand pulse before treatment, there were no statistically difference between two groups, but there were great difference in each group after treatment excpt pulse (P<0.05)。the changes in improved symptoms between the two groups were similai compared 4 weeks after treatment (P>0.05).3. The Safety Observation:NO obvious adverse reaction was found in two groups.Conclusion The curative effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine External Treatment in treating progressive psoriasis vulgaris is better than the control group, The rate of the treatment group was lower than that in control group. The research have proved that this threrapy is effective and ssfe, so it is worth generalizing and applying.
