Standard Percutaneous Nephrolithotripsy Under B-type Ultrasound Guidance For Treatment Of Calculus In Upper Urinary

ObjectivesTo present the clinic efficacy and our experience with PCNL under B-type ultrasound guidance in the treatment of calculus in upper urinary.MethodsWe summarized the clinical data of 207 cases treated by standard PCNL from December 2007 to November 2009. The indications for PCNL were renal stones in 141, renal stones with ureteral stones in 25, ureteral stones in 28, multiple calculus in 180, emplastic calculus in 68. The mean of stone burden was 30.21cm3. Operations were performed by EMSâ…¢LithoClast Master.ResultsThe punctures were completed successfully in all cases, and 188 of 207 cases were performed in one-session,19 cases were performed successfully in two-session. The mean operation time was 90 (50 to 130) mins, the mean hospital stay was 6 days. The stone-free rate was 92%. Major complications were seen in 71 PCNL procedures and included in significant hematuria requiring blood transfusion in 34, fever in 37.ConclusionsStandard PCNL with pneumatic and ultrasonic power under B-type ultrasound guidance is a safe and effective procedure in treatment of calculus in upper urinary.
