Objective: To investigate the effects of curcumin on the expressions of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 in rats with chronic nonbacterial prostatitis[0].Methods: Sixty healthy, adult, male SD rats with the weight of 200-220g were divided into five groups of twelve rats each at random: the control group, model group, oral application of curcumin group, intraperitoneal injection of curcumin group and celebrex group. The chronic nonbacterial prostatitis[0] rat model were created by hypodermic injection of oestradiol benzoate (0.25mg/(kg·d), 30d) after the castrate surgery. After the model creation, curcumin with dosage of 200mg/(kg·d) were used by gavage and intraperitoneal injection in rats with chronic nonbacterial prostatitis[0], respectively . Celebrex tablets were used by gavage as the positive control, and saline was used by gavage in the control and model group. After a week, serum and prostate tissue levels of IL-6 and TNF-αwere measured with ELISA assay. Results: Compared with the positive control group, with exception of IL-6, serum and prostate tissue levels of TNF-αand IL-8 of rats in peritoneal injection of curcumin group were lower and the difference was significant statistically (P<0.01)Conclusion: Curcumin has therapeutic effects on rats with chronic non-bacterial prostatitis and its mechanism may be associated with decreasing levels of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-8, TNF-α) in blood and tissues.
