The rhizomes of several species of genus Paris called"Qiye Yizhihua" or "Yunnan Chonglou" has been used as hemostatic and anti-in-flamatory agent to treat traumatic injuries, snake bite, abscess, convulsion. In this paper, we studied on the Glial and Silty Fenzhi of Chonglou, including the establishment of content determination method of total saponins and seting up HPLC fingerprint of it, as well as anti-inflammatory and analgesia pharmacological action of the 80% Ethanol extract from Rhizoma Paridis. The study confirmed that MeOH extract refluxed 2h has achived Higher content of total saponins by single-factor study. The refluxing (MeOH, for 2h) and concentrating methods have been used to extract the effective components of Rhizoma Paridis. Then, the optimal HPLC conditions were developed for HPLC fingerprint analysis. The samples were separated with Zorbax SB-C18 (5μm,4.6 mm x 250 mm) by linear gradient elution using Acetonitrile and Purified Water, gradient elute for 60 min and at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The UV detector was set at 210 nm. Column temperature was 40℃. With these conditions, we established the fingerprint of Rhizoma Paridis. The fingerprint of 10 batches Rhizoma Paridis.were set up. In the reference fingerprint, there were 14 common characteristic peaks. The 14th peak was assigned as Saponin I of Rhizoma Paridis. The fingerprint of Stachys geobombycis that has been set up was proved to be a basement for its clinical use and identification. We had anti-inflammatory and analgesic pharmacodynamics test. The results show that glial and silt Ethanol extract from Rhizoma Paridis. all have analgesic effects, and in the anti-inflammatory role, the glial medicinal herbs better than the silty...
