Clinical Observation On Effect Of Duhuo Jisheng Decoction In Treating Chondramalacia Patellae

Objeetive:(1)To summarize the current Chinese and Western cognition and reasearch progress of Chondramalacia Patellae (CP). (2)To observe the therapeutic effect and safety of Duhuo Jisheng Decoction in treating CP.Methods:(1)Literature reaserch:To summarize the pathogenesis and therapy of CP by reviewing literature concerned. (2)Clinical reaserch:A prospective study was designed that the patient's scores before and after the treatment were compared, and the conditions of the treatment group and control group are also compared. From June 2009 to March 2010, we selected 60 patients with CP, including in-patients and out-patients, from the department of orthopedics at Zhongshan hospital of TCM. Divide the patients randomly into 2 groups-the treatment group and control group,30 patients in each. The treatment group was administered Duhuojisheng decoction externally; the control group was treated externally with votalin cream. One therapeutic course takes 4 weeks. Before the therapy begins, let the patients fill up a questionaire to get a before-treatment score, referring to the "clinical trial scenario of knee arthritis and osteoarthritis" by GaoYiwen et al. After one systemic therapeutic course, every patients should finish another questionaire so that an after-treatment score can be obtained, and the adverse reaction in the therapy would be asked in detail. Finally the data was analysed.Result:(1)Literature studies:the incidence of CP has increased in recent years and the age of onset is getting younger. Western therapy, with various degrees of gastrointestinal reaction, is usually expensive and invasive. Relatively speaking, Chinese medical treatment is much more inexpensive simple and safer, and has a better curative effect, which makes it suitable for long-term use. It has attracted lots of attention in medical community. (2)Clinical studies:four weeks after systemic cure, there was an significant defference between the two groups. Conclusion:Duhuo Jisheng Decotion possesses a good therapeutic effect on CP. With high safety coefficien and less adverse effect, it can be popularized as a common therapy.
