| Objective:Rheumatism arthritis (RA) is a kind of autoimmune diseases which are very difficult to treat, and it has been one of the main causes of high disability rate in the world, so researchers pay more attention to this disease. Up to now, RA can not be rooted out with the Western Medicine. And the adverse effect and toxic effect is very serious, and the disease recurs easily. This research was for the purpose of comparing the clinical curative effect of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Mdeicine on RA with the simple Western Medicine, and to discuss scientifically as well as objectively about the profit to improve the patients'symptom and the quality of the life with a mixture of Traditional Chinese Mdeicine in treating the RA which was with the syndrome of Shenxuhanning. At the same time, the laboratory indexes was also be observed. The clinical safety was be evaluated too. To start from the clinical practice, looking for the optimization and rational theropy program which is a mixture of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Mdicine, and which can get favorable resul in controlling the laboratory indexes and further guided the Methotrexate (MTX) combined with Kunxian capsule wildly used in the clinical treatment.Method:A total of sixty RA patients in the period from the January 2009 to the December 2009, were divided randomly into two groups, the treatment group (n=30) and control group (n=30). The control group was treated mainly with conventional Western Medicine (MTX, adds NSAID as needed), while the treatment group was treated with KunXian capsule on the basis of conventional Western Medicine. Both groups were kept on treating for 12 weeks. The main clinical symptom and objective sign were observed, and then fill in the tables of symptom integral meter. The laboratory indexes such as blood routine test (WBC, HGB, PLT), the urine routine (PRO, BLD), the stool routine, the kidney function (BUN, Cr), the liver function (ALT, AST), and so on ESR, CRP, RF were compared and recorded at the same time. The adverse reaction and the toxic effect was also observed and recorded down.Result:Treated for 12 weeks, On the aspect of clinical curative effect, the total effective ratio in the treated group(95.0%)was significantly higher than that in the control group(82.5%), the difference had statistical significant (P< 0.05). On the aspect of TCM symptom, such as pains in the joints, in the loins and the back, and so on fearing of cold, both groups are improved. But the total effective ratio in the treated group(97.5%) was obviously better than that in the control group(82.5%), the difference had statistical significant(P< 0.01). Two groups of the Chinese medicine symptom integral has reduced obviously, the treatment group surpassed the control group (P<0.05). The laboratory indexes such as ERS,CRP, RF, WBC, HGB, PLT were improved significantly in both groups, especially in the theated group (P<0.05). In the respect of security bettwen two groups, the treatment group had less reduction of the adverse effect and complication, such as the secondary infection, gastrointestinal disturbance, liver function damage and some other adverse effect. This research proved superior results in the mixture of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Mdicine treament.Conclusion:Treating RA with the method of KunXian capsule combined with Western Mdicine is superior effective than simple Western Mdicine. The cooperation of Chinese and Western Medicine has obviously improve curative effect, has obviously improve the clinical symptom and the aboratory indexes, and to stabilize the patients'condition, and also the reduction of the adverse effect and toxic effect, and also the complication.
