Objective To compare the curative effect of three treatment methods in the treatment of hepatic hemangioma- surgical resection, therapevtic arterial embolization and percutaneous transhepatic microwave therapy, and investigate there reasonable treatment. Methods We statistical analyze all the 122 cases of hepatic hemangioma from January 2006 to June 2009 in Qilu Hospital of Shandong University. Of the 122 cases, 91 cases had surgical resection,21 cases had therapevtic arterial embolization, and the other 10 cases had percutaneous transhepatic microwave therapy. We study the cases by statistics analysis duration of surgery, hospitalization after operation, overall cost for hospitalization and complications postoperative. Results The difference of duration of surgery(73.0,39.3vs118.1), hospitalization after operation exairesis(7.5,10.0vs15.6), overall cost for hospitalization(8865.8, 13314.6vs 16444.7) and complications postoperative(0, 0vs12) of the three treatment methods- surgical resection, therapevtic arterial embolization and percutaneous transhepatic microwave therapy had statistical significance (P<0.05). The applied ascendancy of therapevtic arterial embolization and percutaneous transhepatic microwave therapy in reduce duration of surgery, shorten hospitalization after operation, economize overall cost for hospitalization and reduce complications postoperative are obviously than surgical resection. Conclusions The treatment of hepatic hemangioma should follow the individual character, and we should choice appropriate treatment according to systemic symptom of patients and the number, size and location of hemangiomas. Surgical resection is the first choice of ruptured hemorrhage, exogenou hepatic hemangioma, compress the adjacent organs causing symptoms corresponding. Therapevtic arterial embolization is considered in following suituations: large hemangioma with ill-defined border of less remaining normal liver tissue and can not receive liver resection, recurrence or relapse and the multiple hemangiomas, or close to important structures render the surgical resection of high risk. Percutaneous transhepatic microwave therapy can be used to the hepatic parenchyma (tumor<8cm), multiple small hemangiomas, recrudescency or the recurrent hemangioma. When the tumor is too small bo be distinguished from other hepatic tumor,we can use pathological examination of fine needle aspiration to define the diagnosis. Large or multiple hepatic hemangioma, and the application of a way to treat risk, hemangioma can not be completely eliminated, can be divided into two treatment.
