The Countermeasures Research Of Game Analysis In Overtreatment

With the development of medical and health services, the medical cost has been increasing rapidly. Consequently, the high medical costs put a heavy economic burden on patients, and limit the risen of residents' health level in our country, causing a series of problems in many fields, such as politics, economy and society. There are many reasons for the high cost, the most important of which is that patients received over-services during diagnosis and treatments.Objective To discover why the over-treatment is inefficient, the formation of the over-treatment was analyzed. Some countermeasures and suggestions have been provided to solving this problem, so that the medical services could be appropriate, and the medical cost is suitable.Methods Based on searching a plenty of literatures, some concept were illustrated, including that what the overtreatment is, what constitutes it is and how harm it is. According to the principle and methods of game theory, the relation between game partners in the medical over-treatment was analyzed. Therefore, four game models have been established, including those of doctors and patients, doctors and supervisors, patients and supervisors, supervisors and supervisors. Based on the analysis of the problems of the game results and present solutions, some countermeasures and suggestions have been provided to solving these problems.Results After analyzing, the game results showed that over-treatments emerge during medical service with asymmetric demand information, when doctors (hospitals) induce patients' requirements. On the other hand, the charge system in health insurance which is abused by some patients and doctors is another reason of over-treatments. However, the high cost and low efficiency of supervisions made the over-treatment out of sufficient control.Conclusions In order to amend overtreatment in medical markets, several strategies should be carried out as mentioned following: Opening up the medical market and introducing competition mechanisms; establishing a responsible, purposeful, rational and effective supervision system to supervise over-treatment.; improving laws and regulations on overtreatment control; improving health insurance to prevent violations; cutting off the gray interest chain in medical markets; establishing reasonable salary system to realize the value of medical services.The expected results of the investigation are helpful in pointing out the future solving direction of over-treatments, achieving successful medical and healthcare reforming and effective utilizing health resources. As a result, hospitals could become public and justice again, releasing the medical burden of patients and improving our citizens' health level.
