Nowadays, with the advancement of the"Digital hospital"project, Electronic Medical Record System (EMR) and other hospital information systems (HIS) take a rapid development. There are some important realistic demands of information exchanges among different medical information systems in the same hospital and even different ones. Because of the complexity of medical information and the shortcoming of the thinking in the processing of building information systems, there are many difficulties in information exchanges. So making the effective exchanges of information is a very important problem in the process of development of medical information systems.Combining with the newest existent study results and experience of many projects all over the world, firstly this thesis introduced the basic concepts of EMR,HL7 and Information Exchange, analyzed the medical classification standards in the design of EMR and then made a kind of structure tree that can describe information of medical records. It is easy to make the medical data in hospital information systems structurized on the base of these structure trees, the data can be transmitted effectively in the platform of medical information exchange system. Lastly, to satisfy basic principles of design, this thesis designed the information exchanges platform of EMR on the base of HL7 standard to share and exchange data of EMR. There are three aspects to introduce this platform. For the first the design and implementation of engine of medical information exchanges, it included coding and decoding of HL7 messages, secure client and server, the architecture of message processing that is based on the plug-in system structure. Secondly it proposed the structures and functions of EIC and Gateway system. At last the query and display of the platform, it provided a kind of way to make the GUI configurable and made a new method to improve the user experience (EX) of current EMR in the help of mining the association rules of incremental updating data.All of the above and the achievement of important modules are helpful to the design of architecture of medical information exchange platform and other following researchers.
