Clinical Study Of Sensorineural Tinnitus Treatment By Masking Process

Objective:To explore the efficacy of masking method for the treatment of sensorineural tinnitus and correlation factors of effect on efficacy.Methods:The data of 40 patients with sensorineural tinnitus,who visted otorhinolaryngology out-patient clinic(OPD) of Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical College January 2008-January 2009,were collected,doing the pure-tone hearing check-up and tinnitus matching before treatment by masking process,and making tinnitus survey in stage of therapy,tinnitus rehabilitation apparatu(Kangli Medical Devices Co in Xi'an Model LS-â…¢) was used to treat patients of sensorineural tinnitus by masking process with 1 or 2 courses,each course of 15 days,once a day,each 30 minutes.Optimum frequency of masking sound was used,and intensity based on the minimum masking level was increased no more than 10dB,according to change of patient's condition,adjust to the frequency and intensity of treatment by masking process,not making other treatment,masking method for the treatment period.Results:After 1-2 courses of treatment,follow-up for three month,the total effective rate is 65.00%,all patients had no severe adverse reactions,stepwise multiple regression results showed:tinnitus course,condition,tone characteristics, patient's age and hearing status were the important related factors influenced the masking treatment effect of sensorineural tinnitus,gender had no effect on efficacy of masking method.Conclusion:masking method is a better method of treatment of sensorineural tinnitus,which has no significant side effects,especially for patients of the younger, normal hearing,short-duration,light conditions,a single tone.
