Clinical Study On Gilles De La Tourette Syndrome Treated With Chou Hui Ping

Objective:To investigate the effect and the safety of Chou Hui Ping on Gilles de la Tourette Syndrom(TS) with syndrom of hyperactivity of liver-yan and spleen-asthenia and upstirring of windphlegm,and explore the effect of Chou Hui Ping on the Intelligence and the memory and the quality of life in patients with TS.Methods:66 cases patients with TS were selected and randomly divided into 3 groups,group A(n=22) treated with Chou Hui Ping,group B(n=22) treated with Haloperide,group C treated with combinating of Chou Hui Ping and Haloperide. The curative effect on TS were observed after four weeks.The intelligence,the memory and the quality of life in patients with TS were evaluated after being followed up for three mouths.Result:The group A had 22 cases,and 22 cases were analyzed.The group B had 22 cases,and 19 cases were analyzed.The group C had 22 cases,and 20 cases were analyzed.All schemes are effective on the YGTSS score and the Chinese medicine syndrome score after treatment(P<0.01),there was a significant difference among three groups(P<0.01),and there was no significant difference between group A and group B(P>0.05),there was significant difference between group C and group A,there was also a significant difference between group C and group B.There was a significant difference in the decreasing rate of YGTSS score and the Chinese medicine Syndrome effect among three groups after being treated (P>0.05),there was no significant difference between group A and group B (P>0.05).For group C,the difference was significant,either compared with group A or compared with group B.Part patients of three groups were followed up their intelligence and memory and quality of life.The obvious increase of the intelligence were all observed in three groups,but the increase of both group A and group C(P<0.01) was greater than that of group B(P<0.05).The significant increase of the memory was observed only in group A and group C(P<0.01),group B had no significant difference(P>0.05).Both group A and group B had significant increase in all ways of ISLQ(P<0.01),and group B had no significant increase in three ways of ISLQ(P>0.05).No side effect was observed in the group A.The group C had lower rating scale for Asberg side effect than the group B,it was significant for their difference(P<0.01).Conclusion:Chou Hui Ping is effective and safe prescription to the patients on TS with syndrom of hyperactivity of liver-yan and spleen-asthenia and upstirring of windphlegm.The therapy of Chou Hui Ping combinated with Haloperidol not only enhance the curative effect for TS,also can decrease the adverse reaction of Haloperidol.Chou Hui Ping also can obviously improve the intelligence and memory in patients with TS,either used singly or combinated with Haloperide.
