Objective:"Obstetric population" covered a wide range of gestational period, prenatal period, lactation etc. Currently, "obstetric population" in ICU increased. In recent years, most domestic research only focused on some aspects of high-risk pregnancy and ignored the overall assessment. The special study on obstetric patients in the ICU is rare, even in the international area, which also has just started. This study is retrospective analysis to investigate the high-risk factors and mechanical ventilation methods of obstetric population in comprehensive ICU and initially explore the clinical characteristics of these patients, providing evidence for evidence-based medicine of obstetric severe cases. Methods: The study collected 255 cases of obstetric patients in the emergency ICU (2000.1 to 2002.12) and the Centre ICU (2003.1 to 2007.12) in the 1st affiliated hospital of Chongqing Medical University ,including: names, admission numbers, age, number of pregnancies, number of deliveries, past surgical history, survival, the first treatment unit, diagnosis, history summary, risk factors (antenatal, delivery, and postpartum) for admission to the ICU, APACHEâ…¡, TISS score, stay in ICU, all kinds of biochemical and monitoring index reflecting the functions of the various organs . We input all of them into Microsoft Excel to analyze the high-risk factors and mechanical ventilation of obstetric population in ICU.Results and conclusions:1, The number of obstetric patients in ICU, especially aged 30 to 39 years old, has an upward tendency. The patients for initial treatment in the non-three-level hospital have a greater proportion.2,â‘ pregnancy pathology and pregnancy complications,â‘¡obstetric shock,â‘¢high-risk factors after parturition are the important factors that impact on obstetric patient in ICU.3, APACHEâ…¡and TISS score can be the effective index assessing the severity of obstetric patients when the majority of above risk factors occurs. Among them, GDM, AFLP, ICP index remain to be further studied.4, ALI / ARDS has a large proportion of obstetric population. It is essential to treat the primary disease. Mechanical ventilation is the main and most important measure to treat with ALI / ARDS. MODS is one of the direct causes of maternal death. It is a more powerful method that ICU and obstetric collaborate to salvage MODS of maternal.
