| Objective: The etiology and pathogenesis of childhood leukaemia remains unclear which are generally accepted as the result of interaction among various kinds of environment and genetic factors. The present research aims to investigate the risk factors of childhood leukemia, thus provides the theoretical basis for the prevention of childhood leukaemia. Methods: Design a survey about risk factors of childhood leukaemia to analyze the relevant risk factors by comparing 143 cases of leukaemia children in Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from May 2008 to Feb 2009 with 108 instances of non-leukaemia of the same period in hospital, including idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, nutritional iron deficiency anemia, infectious mononucleosis , mediterranean anemia, haemophilia, pneumonia, and so on. According to the single factor analysis, the significant factors were analyzed with the multifactor conditional Logistic regression analysis. All of the indexes are analyzed by Chi-square test except for the onset age which is analyzed by T test. Results: In the single factor analysis, 12 out of 26 indexes were significant, including onset age, family history of cancer, father childbearing age, maternal childbearing age, frequent infection history, house fitment history, parents occupational factors, nearby chemical factories and history of contact with paint, leather shoes, radiation and pesticides. In the multifactor Logistic regression analysis, 8 out of 12 indexes were significant, including frequent infection history, house fitment history, family history of cancer, maternal childbearing age, and history of contact with paint, leather shoes, radiation and pesticides. Conclusion: It is shown that frequent infection history, house fitment history, family history of cancer, maternal childbearing age, and history of contact with paint, leather shoes, radiation and pesticides are closely related to the pathogeny of childhood leukaemia and may be the distinguished risk factors of childhood leukaemia. |
