Anatomy Of The Temporal Branches And The Muscles On Its Distribution Area

Objective:We study and research the morphous,courser,aerial image and distribution of the temporal branch to confirm its innervation on the temporal region and eyebrow region,provide theoretical evidences for the clinical application of rhytidectomy and any other surgical intervention which involve in the temporal branches.Methods : Eight antiseptic cadaveric head specimens,which were soaked by 10% formaldehyde for two to eight years,between thirty to seventy years old, were dissected macroscopically and microscopically. We reseach the shape and ditribution of the corrugator supercilii muscle of orient nation of Mongoloid and the morphous,courser,aerial image and distribution of the temporal branch to confirm its innervation on the temporal region and eyebrow region,and the result was recorded by words and pictures.Results:The corrugator supercilii muscle was a little muscle of the orbital region ,its body surface aerial image was on the diagnoal line of a rectangle which is about 36.5±4.5 mm length ,21.9±3.6 mm wide.The domination nerves of supercilii muscle is mainly from the plexus of the temporal branches' inferior ramus .There are about 3~4 ramis intering the lateral 1/2 half of the supercilii muscle. The temporal branch range 7.8±2.1mm,17.2±3.8mm,25.1±3.3mm on the zygomatic arch's inferior border horizontal line,sulcus auriculae posterior horizontal line and the perpendicular through the foramen sive incisura supraorbitalis.Apart from this,the temporal branches and the zygomatic branches of the facial nerve form the nerve plexus nearby the zygomatic arch,which enter the lateral of the orbicularis oculis and control the orbicularis oculis under the angulus oculi lateralis horizontal line .Close to the horizontal line of the angulus oculi lateralis,the middle ramus of the temporal branch of the facial nerve about 1~2 ramis enter the orbicularis oculis,they control the contraction of the orbicularis oculis surrounding the angulus oculi lateralis area.Conclusions: We confirmed the entering course of the tempral branch of the facial nerve,to provide theoretical evidences for the clinical application of rhytidectomy and any other surgical intervention which involve in the temporal branches,then we can make the microsurgery more precise.
