Objective: On the basis of anatomical studies,electroneurography(ENoG)test were performed on temporal branch of facial nerve and angular nerve,ipsilateral record were made at corrugator supercilii muscle and procerus.To study the innervation of the corrugator supercilii muscle and procerus from temporal branch of facial nerve and angular nerve through a electroneurophysiological view.In order to provide a theoretical basis for the removal of frown lines when selective denervate the glabellar muscles.Methods: Nerve stimulator(Multistim Sensor,PAJUNK)were used to look for the temporal branch of the facial nerve and angular nerve stimulated points on bilateral temporal and cheek of 16 volunteers(32 sides),including 11 males and 5 females,aged21-26 years,mean age was 23.44 ± 1.7 years.Use the electromyography(EMG)evoked potential(NDI-200P+,Shanghai Poseidon medical electronic equipment company),bipolar surface stimulating electrodes delivered single electrical stimulation of 10 mA at temporal branch of the facial nerve and angular nerve,stimulus duration was 3 ms,sensitivity was 1mV.ENoG recorded from the belly of corrugator supercilii muscle and procerus at the same side.The position that surface recording electrode placed over the muscle would not be changed while stimulate the same mimetic muscle.Four groups of ENoG were received on each side,respectively,ipsilateral innervations of the corrugator supercilii muscle from angular nerve and temporal branch of facial nerve,innervation of the procerus from angular nerve and temporal branch of facial nerve.And record the amplitude datas.Analyze electroneurography 's waveform of the four groups,judge the innervations of the two muscles.Four groups of 32 sides amplitude datas were statistically analyzed,compare the different innervation ofcorrugator supercilii muscle,compare procerus as well.Results: By analyzing four groups ENoG of 32 sides,the wave shapes of corrugator supercilii muscle in two innervation groups were both typical of M wave,the amplitude of temporal branch of the facial nerve innervation group was(0.56 ± 0.29)mV,angular nerve group was(1.00 ± 0.71)mV,amplitude compared statistically,the difference was statistically significant(p = 0.002,P <0.05).For the procerus,15 sides ENoG of procerus innervation by temporal branch of the facial nerve group's have not detected any wave,the amplitude was 0.15 sides waves were forward wave(non-M-wave),2 sides were sinusoidal waveform with low amplitude(M wave).The group that procerus innervation from angular nerve were typical negative direction sinusoidal waveform(M wave),the amplitude was(1.60±0.95)mV.Amplitude recorded by the two innervation groups of procerus compared statistically,the difference was statistically significant(p <0.001,P <0.05).Conclusion: Corrugator supercilii muscle innervated by both temporal branch of the facial nerve and angular nerve from its medial and lateral sides.Procerus mainly innervated by the angular nerve,the innervation from temporal branch of the facial nerve is little.Angular nerve run below the medial canthus which consist of the buccal and zygomatic branch of the facial nerve,plays an important role in the corrugator supercilii muscle and procerus' s innervation.
