A Research On The Correlation Between TCM Types Of Syndrome Of BPH And Pathologic Transfomation

Objective: To investigate the correlation between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) types of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and pathologic transformation based on differential diagnosis of diseases and differentiation of symptoms, providing clinical document and reference datum for BPH investigation of integrated traditional and western medicine. To aim at elevating the accuracy of BPH differentiation of symptoms, guiding clinical prescription and decision of prognosis. To investigate quantization and objectivise of TCM types.Methods: This research is a clinical observation. 126 inpatients were chosen, who were treated at Urological department of affiliated hospital of Nanjing University of TCM from May 2005 to January 2009. They were divided to 6 syndromes, according to the standard of the diagnosis and effect of TCM disease, which are Lung Heat , Dampness and Heat, Insufficiency of Splenogastric Qi, Deficiency of Kidney Yin , Deficiency of Kidney Yang, Spirit Stagnation and Blood Stasis. Determining the treatment based on differentiation of symptoms and signs, to know the evolution and correlation of each syndrome, and analysis the correlation between TCM types and pathologic transformation , clinical factors ,such as age, course of disease, pathogenetic condition,, prostatic volume etc. By SPSS 13.0 statistics software ,we can make rank test, chi square test and t test to find out the inter-correlations.Results:â‘ the incidence of Spirit Stagnation and Blood Stasis in BPH TCM type is the highest , the second and third is Kidney Deficiency ,Dampness and Heat respectively. There is significant correlation between them and other types. The incidence of Insufficiency of Splenogastric Qi is the lowest. It is hinted that Kidney Deficiency and Blood Stasis is the capital causes of TCM pathogenesis of BPH .â‘¡There is correlation between TCM type distribution of BPH and pathologic transformation . Stroma hyperplasy inclines to diagnosis of Blood Stasis; gland hyperlasy inclines to diagnosis of Kidney Deficiency; PIN inclines to diagnosis of sthenia syndrome and Spirit Stagnation and Blood Stasis; untypical hyperplasy inclines to diagnosis of deficient syndrome and Kidney Yin Deficiency; hyperplasy with inflammation inclines to diagnosis of d\Dampness and Heat, then Kidney Deficiency and Spirit Stagnation and Blood Stasis, The incidence of Insufficiency of Splenogastric Qi is the lowest,which has significant disparity with other types. It is hinted that the main TCM pathogenesis of BPH with CP are dampness and heat, kidney deficiency , blood Stasis;â‘¢There is intimate correlation between Syndrome type and age, course of disease, prostatic volume.Conclusion: BPH is a disease which is asthenia in origin and asthenia in superficiality, kidney deficiency is the basic cause, and blood stasis is the outcome. Each type has intimate correlation with pathologic transformation and age, disease course, prostatic volume. Clinical factors conduce to elevate the accuracy and prediction of BPH differentiation of symptoms and signs, in order to guide clinical prescription, and make beneficial exploration for quantization and objectivise of TCM types.
