A Clinical Study On The Effect Of Prescription Of Xitongxiaoxunxi In Treating Kee Oteoarthritis

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of prescription of xitongxiaoxunxi in treating knee osteoarthritis,explore its effective mechanism,provide clinical bases and theories foundations for the exploitation and research of TCM external therapy.Method:60 medical outpatients were chosen according to the adoption standards and divided into experimental group and control group randomly(allocation concealment).Fumigated and washed the knees of the patients in the experimental group with xitongxiaoxunxi prescription twice a day(morning and evening),while patients in the control group were injected with sodium hyaluronate(2ml) into the knee cavity once a week.The treatment period were both five weeks.Recorded the scores of signs and symptoms and detected three cytokines levels(IL-1,IL-6,TNF-α) of the joint fluids(1-2ml) of both group at the first week and the fifth week.All data were treated statistically.Result:There were significant differences(P＜0.05) in both group between the scores of symptoms and physical signs and three cytokines levels(IL-1,IL-6,TNF-α)before and after treatment,which indicated that treatments of both groups could improve clinical symptoms and could lower three cytokines levels of the joint fluids of the KOA patients.There was no significant difference(P＞0.05) on the scores of symptoms and physical signs and three cytokines levels(IL-1,IL-6,TNF-α)between the two groups after treatment,which meaned that therapeutic efficacy of the both groups had no significant difference,in other words,they had a equivalent therapeutic efficacy.There was no significant difference(P＞0.05) on excellence ratio and total efficiency ratio between the two group,_which indicated that cure rate of the both groups had no significant difference.Seven patients relapsed in the control group within half a year while five patients relapsed in the experimental group,which meaned that recurrence rate of the experimental group was lower obviously than the control group.Conclusion:1.Pescription of xitongxiaoxunxi could improve symptoms and physical signs of patients of knee osteoarthritis,improve the quality of life,and had few side effects and low recurrence rate,however its overall effect slightly lower than that of sodium hyaluronate.2.Prescription of xitongxiaoxunxi could lower three cytokines levels(IL-1,IL-6,TNF-α)of the joint fluids of the KOA patients.
