Bushenhuoxue Side Of Knee Osteoarthritis In Patients With Serum Il-1, Tnf-alpha

Osteoarthritis is a chronic and difficult treated disease, which is common in the elderly. Its characteristic is articular cartilage appears primary or secondary degeneration, with hyperplasia of the bone under cartilage.The osteoarthritis of knee (KOA) is particularly commom. The main clinical expressions of KOA are knee joint pain, swelling and limitation of activity. The cause and pathogensis of KOA are not completely clear yet. There is no good treatment to stop the disease in western medicine besides replacement of knee joint for few patients, while traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) can remedy it as "Bi Zheng". TCM treat both principal and secondary aspect of this disease,and often achieve more satisfactory effect.Objective:Give KOA patients take Chinese traditional medicine which is nourishing kidney and removing blood stasis. Observe the clinical symptoms and the changes of IL-1 and TNF-α.Methods:Seventy cases of KOA were divided into two groups by take random method:The treatment group were given the traditional Chinese medicine-Bu Shen Huo Xue a dose and twice daily,while the control group were given prevent bone hyperplasia capsule,3 times a day, each time five goals. The observation period was 4 weeks. The symptoms of two groups of patients were written by the special form before and after the treatment, and 4ml blood of all patients'before and after treatment were taken to detect the content of IL-1 and TNF-a.Results:In clinical indicator, the treatment group control and powerfully rate was 67.00%, with the total effective rate was 100%;while the control group control and powerfully rate was 63.33%, with the total effective rate was 93.33%. The symptoms of all patients were improved, and there was significant difference in the scores between the two groups (P< 0.01). There was also significant difference in swelling between two groups after the treatment (P< 0.05)The IL-1 and TNF-a contents of each group after the treatmrnt were much lower than those before the treatment (P< 0.01 in both group). And after the treatment, there was s ignif icant difference in the IL-1 of two groups (P< 0.05).Conclusion:After the treatment, the treatment group patients' symptoms are got obvious improvement, so the main pathogens of KOA is the weakness of kidney and blood stasis. It is proved that the prescription of Bu Shen Huo Xue can reduce the content of IL-1 and TNF-α, so IL-1, TNF-αand Knee os teoarthritis are closely related.
