Study BackgroundWith opening up and the modernization driving, it is necessary for modern medicine to train medical talent of high quality, enterprising spirit and practical competence. International medical education standard makes high standard and stringent specification to higher medical university. The aim of higher medical university student management is to improve the quality and ability of students. It emphasises on improving the management methods, modes and the timeliness of student management.In status quo, many problems and disordered state exist in student management. Faced with new social environment, new development requirements, new situation and a new set of problems in student management, the traditional management theory, management model and management way face new challenge in in higher medical university, we should explore constantly, change our mentality and find out the best solution.Diversification of Management theory, there are more studies about people-based concept management theory, but lack of contingency management theory. Consequently, it has significant importance of finding out how to use contingency management theory to improve the timeliness of student management and cultivate multiple qualifications of medical students in higher medical university.Study ObjectiveTo improve student comprehensive quality, quality of personnel training, strengthen pertinence, validity and innovativeness of student management, adapt the developmental requirements of higher medical university, This research is aimed at using contingency management theory to analyze the training goal, management status, the variation of the factors and its influence on the goals in student management. Through investigating reform characteristic, perfect situation and existing problem of higher medical university, it researches the validity of manegment function by using contingency management theory, and takes consolidate or corrective measures clearly, in order to improve the timeliness of student management.Study MethodsThrough the literature studies in the relevant literature review on contingency management theory, student management of higher medical university, medical education reform and development, through consultation and interviews, we made depth interviews with experienced experts and professors, further determine the status of student management of higher medical university.Under the IIME-GMER and expert advices, use the Questionnaire of student management status in higher medical university, conducted a questionnaire survey to 1,260 students from Southern Medical University and Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Data were inputed with foxpro6.0. The description of student management status in higher medical university uses the Frequency Statistics, One-Way ANOVA, Partial correlation analysis. Analyze on expectations of medical student management in different grades, and to verify relationship between the expectation of student management and satisfaction. Missing value was excluded by Exclude cases listwise method. Data were analysised with spss13.0.Study ResultsBy analyzing the inner and outer environment, status of student management in higher medical university, basing on the literature review and demonstration survey, we find out the disparity and existing problem between in the status of student management and the IIME-GMER. Under the guidance of contingency management theory, we delete the specific improvements to the planning, organization, leadership, control functions of student management. The research sets new goal and direction of student management in higher medical university in this stage; advices to build students network information system; raises new improvement with different grades; adjusts the functional responsibility, Position, staff placement by contingency management theory; formulates improvement measures of averaging up the administrative staff specialization and different leader modes; advices set up the management system by centering on student dormitories, and strengthens the management control system of teaching quality; etc.Study ConclusionContingency management theory applies to student management in medical university can promote its modernization, improve their management effectiveness and the quality of personnel training effectively.
