Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of optic nerve protection with TQMM NO.Ⅳon treating primary open-angle glaucoma.Methods:52 eyes of 30 patients with optic atrophy leaded by primary open-angle glaucoma were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.Intraocular pressure were reduced to below 17mmHg By surgery or drug therapy.The treatment group was administered decoction of Chinese medicine TQMM NO.Ⅳ,vitamin B1 and vitamin B12.The control group was given vitamin B1 and vitamin B12.Both groups were compared before and after treatment and compared between the two kinds of methods in respect of the vision,visual field and visual electrophysiology.Result:1.Efficacy of the treatment group is superior to the control group (P<0.05)2.Before and after treatment,significant improvement in visual acuity, there are significant differences(P<0.05 ),Control group,visual acuity before and after treatment compared,there is no significant difference(P>0.05)3.Before and after treatment,The average photosensitive degree of vision is increased,there are significant differences(P<0.05);The average defect is reduced,there are significant differences(P<0.05).The control group photo before and after treatment compared with the average field of vision,there is no significant difference(P>0.05 );Comparison of the average defect,there is no significant difference(P>0.05)4.In study of VEP,the amplitude of the P100 wave is improved,there are significant differences(P<0.05),the latency of the P100 wave is shorten,there are significant differences(P<0.05).The control group before and after treatment visual evoked potential amplitude compared,there is no significant difference(P>0.05);Comparison of latency,there is no significant difference (P>0.05)Conelusions:The decoction of Chinese medicine TQMM NO.Ⅳplayed a good role in its treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma with optic atrophy, and has a protective effect on the optic nerve,and more effective than the control group;TQMM NO.Ⅳcan improve blood circulation of Retinal optic nerve,increase the excitability of optic nerve cells,prevent the apoptosis of optic ganglion cells to protect the optic nerve.
