Objiective:To investigate the protective effects of Rumex gmelini Turcz.on myocardial ischemia in mice and its possible mechanism.Methods:Maximum Dose test was used to evaluate the safety of R.gmelin Turcz.Acute ischemic myocardial injury was experimentally induced by hypodermic injecting Isoprenaline(Iso).The survival time of mice,the activities of creatinkinase(CK),lactate dahydrogenase(LDH) and aspartate aminotransferase(AST) in serum,the activity of malondialdehyde(SOD)and uperoxide dismutase(MDA) in myocardium were all measured.Myocardial water content(MWC) and myocardial index(MI) were determined.Pathological examination of the heart tissues were performed.Resurts:Maximum dose experiment showed that the most dosage of R.gmelini is 30mg/kg,Acute toxicity is very small.R.gmelini could obviously prolong the survival time of mice in specificity cardial anoxia and duration of ectrocardiograph in trachea-closed mice,and decreased the activities of CK, LDH and AST in serum.R.gmelini could increase the activity of SOD and decrease the level of MDA in myocardium.R.gmelini can inhibit the increasing of myocardial water content(MWC) and myocardial index(MI),and improved the pathological changes in myocardium.Conclusion:R.gmelini could protect against myocardical ischemia injury in the way of enhancing antioxidative potency of the heart,inhibiting lipid peroxidation and so on.
