Objective: Through collating and analyzing the prescription of insomnia treating with Acupuncture in ancient and modern literature, this article sums up the high frequency acupoints.So it provides theoretical support for clinical application and research.Methods: Computer searches of《Encyclopedia of Traditional Chinese Medicine》and CNKI. Statistical analysis with the Microsoft Access database.Result: In the ancient literature, the prescription bases on single point; while in the modern literature, it bases on multi-points. The adopted points are totally different between ancient and modern literature except Xinshu (BL15).Most adopted points are on the bladder meridian and the stomach meridian. The type of acupoints bases on special point in both ancient literature and modern literature. Acupuncture points are mainly distributed in lower limbs. Modern doctors pay more attention on choosing points dialectically and the law of coordinating with points.Conclusion: The ancient and modern doctors are similar in the meridian distribution and type of acupoints but had great difference in prescription.
