Objective To investigate the prevalence of diabetes mellitus(DM) and impaired glucose regulation(IGR) among the permanent urban inhabitants in Fuzhou and Sanming. Methods Questionnairy survey, physical examination, and laboratory testing were conducted urban inhabitants aged above 19 years in Fuzhou and Sanming selected by cluster random sampling. The data about the prevalence of DM and IGR were collected and analyzed. Results The prevalence rates of DM and IGR in Fuzhou were 15.5% and 20.8%(standardized prevalence rates:13.4% and 16.4%).And The prevalence rates of impaired glucose tolerance(IGT) and impaired fasting glucose(IFG) in Fuzhou were 17.1% and 3.5%(standardized prevalence rates:13.6% and 2.7%).The prevalence rates of DM and IGR in Sanming were 11.3% and 15.1%(standardized prevalence rates:10.9% and 14.3%).And The prevalence rates of impaired glucose tolerance(IGT) and impaired fasting glucose(IFG) in Sanming were 12.0% and 3.1%(standardized prevalence rates:11.4% and 3.0%). The prevalence rates of DM were significantly higher in men(P<0.01).The prevalence rates of DM and IGT were significantly higher in those with overweight, obesity(all P<0.01).The prevalence rates of DM , IGT,and IFG were significantly higher in those with central obesity(all P<0.01). The prevalence rates of DM and IGT were significantly higher in those with hypertension(all P<0.01). The ratios of undiagnosed DM were 49.0%(72/147). The ratios of undiagnosed DM in women were significantly higher(P<0.05). The prevalence rates of overweight, obesity, central obesity, hypertension in people with DM and IGR were significantly higher than those with NGT.Age,education level, family history of DM, obesity, central obesity, well control of food and sugar intake and dyslipidemia were independent risk factors of abnormal glucose regulation. Conclusion The prevalence rates of DM and IGR in Fuzhou and Sanming showed an increasing tendency. We should devote major efforts to the health education and prevetion of DM,and make the threat to the lowest limit. |
