| ObjectiveEar diseases severely effect people's physical and mental health ,which not only damage the function of hearing and equilibrium.,but also damage cardia, vascellum, digestion, endocrine secretion systems through central nervous system and result in nonspecific psycho-psychological disorder.Acouesthesia of the newborn infant and presbycusis have generally been carried out, the conditon of adolescent acouesthesia is opposite. In order to launch education of acouestic heath and provide scientific data for drawing future prevention and treatment strategies,the survey of the prevalence of ear diseases of middle school students in the city of Xi'an has been run.MethodsA survey on otology and hearing of students in 10 middle schools of the city of Xi'an was carried out in the way of the stratified random cluster sampling using the WHO proto-col.Results 1.There were 1567 middle school students who underwent the investigation. Response rate was 97.93% .The participants were composed of 793 males(50.6%)and 774 females(49.4%).2.The prevalence of ear diseases was 6.00%.The prevalences of various ear diseases were as follows: outer ear diseases(3.83%),middle ear diseases(0.70%) and inner ear diseases(1.47%).3.There was a significant difference in prevalence between males and females. the prevalence of ear diseases was 4.28%(18/421) among of the age of 12-14, 3.08%(21/581) among of the age of 15-16, 9.73%(55/565) among of the age of 17-19.4.The prevalence of hearing impairment was 2.30%(36/1567),including light 1.85%(29/1567), midrang 0.26%(4/1567), weight 0.13%(2/1567), ponder- osity 0.06%(1/1567).the prevalence of hearing disability was 0.13%(2/1567).5.The ear diseases of hearing impairment included noise-induced hearing loss (1.15% ),congenital hearing loss( 0.19%),chronic suppurative otitis media (0.19%),et al.6.There was relation of dose–response to between hearing loss detection, rate of symptoms and the using time of MP3 .7.Logistic regression of the survey showed that there was relation to betw- een gender, the using time of MP3, hyposomnia and hearing loss, among MP3 was independence risk factor of hearing loss.8.Of the students surveyed, 2.30% needed to unload cerumen , 0.13% needed hearing aids, 0.96% needed nonurgent ear surgery,0.13%needed drugs.ConclusionIt is necessary to promote knowledge of hearing health and strengthen preventative curative rehabilitative strategy of otopathy and hearing loss of adolescet, especially the reasonable using of MP3, because the prevalence of ear diseases and hearing loss of midlle school students were high. |
