Objective: To study the effectiveness of the pudendal protective cover to reduce the reproduction of the bacteria around the urethra external aperture. Methods: 60 patients who needed urethral catheterization were divided into two groups (30 with pudendal protective cover and 30 without). Culture the bacteria samples collected around the urethra external aperture on the 2nd, 7th and 14th days. And compared the positive rate and the flora distribution. Experimental group of patients with the urethral catheterication are wearing the Yam masks , strong oxidizing ion water disinfection urethral mouth twice a day, and replace the hood retaining pudendal protective covers. Sampling methods are as follows : on the mornings of the 2nd day, the 7th day, the 14th day after the indwelling catheterization, remove the retaining pudendal protective covers, collect the samples with a one-time use of sterile urethral swab before the urethral mouth disi fection . The control group of patients, post-catheterization twice daily in accordance with conventional transurethral resection of care outside the mouth strong oxidizing ion water disinfection. Culture and identification: the experimental group and the control group will be taken after the sampling of blood agar in four divisions on the line, followed by 35℃CO2 add overnight culture incubation. Bacterial culture-positive specimens by smear Gram stain identification. Outcome measures: observe the opening of ureter on the 2nd day, the 7th day, the 14th day after the indwelling catheterization urethral and do records, normal mucous urethra ruddy, clean, no discharge. Ruddy to mucosa urethra (-), red, pale, dry, etc. (+), clean for the (-), there is visible dirt and secretion for the (+). Criteria for judging the results of blood agar, there is positive for bacterial growth. Medium is divided into four divisions blood line, there are only a small amount of bacteria for bacterial growth, there are 2 ~ 3 area for bacteria growth in the volume of bacteria, fungi are four areas for a large number of bacterial growth. Statistical methods: t test, X2 test. Results: The positive rate of the bacteria setting around the urethra external aperture paralyzed with the duration of the urethral catheterization. There is no great differences between the experimental group and the control group, when comparing the positive rate of the setting of the bacteria around the urethra external aperture on the 2nd, 7th day ( P>0.05),but on the 14th day, the result is quite different (P<0.05). As well as comparing the cultural rate of the gram-negative bacteria and the gram-positive bacteria from the setting bacteria around the urethra external aperture of the experimental group and the control group, there is no great differences between the experimental group and the control group, when comparing the positive rate of the setting of the bacteria around the urethra external aperture on the 2nd, 7th day ( P>0.05),but on the 14th day, the result was quite different (P<0.05) when it comes to the amount of the setting of the bacteria around the urethra external aperture. Conclusions: Found in the experiment, the time catheterization in patients with 7 days, experimental group and control group were the targets of acquisition by the X2 test, P values> 0.05, the difference was not significant, that is, the time of catheterization of small patients in seven days does not cover the use of vaginal care. Catheterization time in 7 ~ 14 days, or> 14 days of the patients, the experimental group and control group were the targets of acquisition by the X2 test, P values were <0.05, difference significant, that is, the time of catheterization more than 7-day care of patients with vaginal masks to use. Pudendal protective covers retaining time of catheterization> 7 days, patients can be effective in reducing urethral positive rate of bacterial population. Urethral reduce the volume of the mouth of bacteria colonization. The pudendal protective covers could effectively prevent the bacteria reproduction around the urethra external aperture in the patients who needed the treatment for 7-14 days or even longer.
