[Objective] to observe the clinical effects of treating peripheral facial paralysis with the "Tian-di needling" formula in conjunction with the face zone "fleet row needling" approach from Bo's Abdominal Acupuncture Method.[Method] Fifty cases of peripheral facial paralysis were randomly selected. All subjects were treated with a new face zone "fleet row needling" approach with Bo's "Tian-di needling" abdominal acupuncture method. Treatments were administered once a day for 14 days. Observations including number of sessions required to achieve total recovery, effectiveness of symptomatic relief and untoward side effects were made and recorded. The electrophysiological index such as BR-wave and M-wave latent period and amplitude were used as tools for objective measurement.[Result] Thirty-three cases got clinical recovery among 50 cases. The total efficacy rate is 96.00%, while the treatment times to get curing concentrated from the 6th to 12th. The assessment of the electrophysiological index showed an obvious difference between before and after treatments by the scores of BR-wave and M-wave latent period (ms) and amplitude (μV) (P<0.001 or P<0.01). There is not any special uncomfortable recording during the observation period.[Conclusion] Bo's "Tian-di needling" abdominal acupuncture method with the "Linggui face zone" "fleet row needling" approach can improve the prognosis andpromote the clinical recovery of peripheral facial paralysis patients.
