Expression And Clinical Significance Of Mesothelin MRNA In Endometrial Carcinoma

Objective To observe the expression of mesothelin mRNA in carcinoma of endometrium,finding for the relationship between mesothelin and the carcinoma of endometrium.To investigate the relationship between mesothelin and carcinogenesis and development of the endometrial carcinoma.Material and method The expression of mesothelin mRNA in the sample of 14 normal endometrium and 41 endometrial carcinoma of uterus were analyzed by semi-quantitive reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).According to the surgeon-histological standard of Federation International of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO) in the 2000,the cases included stageⅠ,Ⅱ(28),stageⅢ,Ⅳ(13),G1(7),G2(24),G3(10),with lymphatic metastasis(6),with deep myometrium invation(20),adenocarcinomas(36),other type carcinoma(5).The SPSS 14.0 statistic software was used in this study.Result The positive percentages of mesothelin mRNA expression in endometrial carcinoma and normal endometrium were 82.9%and 78.6%respectively,and there was a significantly difference between two groups.The relative contents of mesothelin mRNA were 74.95±22.34 and 54.45±9.01respectively,and the level in endometrial carcinoma was insignificantly higher than those in normal endometrium and hyperplasia P=0.005.Moreover,the relative contents of mesothelin mRNA in endometrial carcinoma for surgical pathologic stagingⅢ～Ⅳ,with lymphatic metastasis,deep myometrium of invasion,poorly differentiated tissues were significantly higher than those in surgical pathologic stagingⅠ～Ⅱ,without lymphatic metastasis,superficial myometrium of invasion,well differentiated tissues,P= 0.000,0.014,0.01 and 0.034.However,the relative contents of mesothelin mRNA did not correlate significantly with histological type P= 0.219. Conclusions The mesothelin was related with the evolution of the carcinoma of endometrium.Mesothelin had relationship with the pathologic staging and different histological types of carcinoma of endometrium.It can be a observation index of the dignosis and prognosis of the carcinoma of endometrium.Testing mesothelin had certain clinical value in appraising the malignant degree and prognosis of the carcinoma of endometrium.
