Objective To examine the expression of the cervical carcinoma, and to assess the effects of KLK8 protein and MMP-9 protein in cervical carcinoma. Methods The expression of KLK8 protein was examined by Immunohistochemisty in 67 cases that composed of 11 cases with normal cervical tissues, 13 cases with chronic cervicitis tissues and 43 cases with cervical carcinoma tissues .Results 1.KLK8 protein was located in cervical epithelial plasma. The positive expression rate of KLK8 protein was 69.8% in cervical carcinoma tissues, 15.4% in chronic cervicitis tissues and 0 in cervical normal tissues,The expression rate of KLK8 protein was significantly higher in cells of cervical cancer (69.8%) than those in normal cervical tissues (0) (P<0.01), and than those in chronic cervicitis tissues (15.4%)(P<0.01).but there was no significant difference between normal cervical tissues and chronic cervicitis tissues(p > 0.05).2.MMP-9 protein was located in cervical epithelial plasma. The positive expression rate of MMP-9 protein was 76.7% in cervical carcinoma tissues; 30% in chronic cervicitis tissues and 27.3% in cervical normal tissues,The expression rate of MMP-9 protein was significantly higher in cells of cervical cancer(76.7%)than those in normal cervical tissues(27.3%)(P<0.01) ,and than those in chronic cervicitis tissues (30%)(P<0.01) .but there was no significant difference between normal cervical tissues and chronic cervicitis tissues(p > 0.05).3.Statistical analysis was done to show a positive correlation between KLK8 protein and MMP-9 protein expression (rs =0.443, P<0.01).Conclusion The positive expression rate of KLK8 protein and MMP-9 protein in cells of cervical cancer was higher than those in normal and chronic cervicitis tissues human. And statistical analysis was done to show a positive correlation between KLK8 and MMP-9 expression. KLK8 protein and MMP-9 protein play an important role in invasion and metastasis together.and participute in the pathogenesis of cervical cancer. It may prove to be a useful diagnostic tool or a novel molecular target for cervical cancer.
