Objective:Epidemiological method was applied for investigation,to explore the distribution evolution of tcm syndromes in patients with essential hypertiension among the age,sex and blood pressure, and to provide the basis for perfecting normalization of syndrome differentiation in tcm and improving the clinical curative effect in patients with essential hypertension.Mehtods:(1)The blood pressure of the right arm seated was measured by ventrical mercury sphygmomanometer and the average number measured was taken three times, and the hypertension was graded according to the standard of hypertension.(2)The grade of tcm symptoms was scored according to the quantitative standard.(3) Calculated frequency of per symptom and score of tcm syndromes according to the standard formula, and analyzed the frequency distribution of symptom.(4) Analyzed the distribution of tcm syndrome, and discussed its law.Results:(1)The lagest frequencies of symptoms were the head symptoms(e.g.Vertigo,headache). There was significant difference among the pulse(P<0.01),and the main pulse was wiry pulse. There was no significant difference among the tongue picture(P>0.01).(2)The interior retention of phlegm dampens group was the most widely distributed in tcm syndromes.(3) The flaring liver-fire group was mainly presentated light and mild in grad of tcm syndrome in patients with hypertension, the deficiency of Yin with excess of Yang group was mainly presentated mild and severe, the interior retention of phlegm dampens group was mainly presentated mild, and the deficiency of both the Yin and Yang group was mainly presentated severe. And there was significant difference among the distribution(P<0.01).(4) The male patient was more than female in flaring liver-fire group and nterior retention of phlegm dampens group, and was less in deficiency of Yin with excess of Yang group and deficiency of both the Yin and Yang group, and the grad of tcm syndrome in male was larger than female, but there was no significant difference among the distribution(P>0.05).(5) The flaring liver-fire group was mainly distributed at the age within 55 years, the deficiency of Yin with excess of Yang group was mainly distributed at the age between 56 and 75 years, the interior retention of phlegm dampens group was mainly distributed at the age between 46 and 65 years, and the deficiency of both the Yin and Yang group was mainly distributed at the age above 66 years and less distributed within 55 years. And there was significant difference among the distribution(P<0.01),and the score of tcm syndrome was positively correlated with age(P<0.01).(6)The score of tcm syndrome was positively correlated with blood pressure level(P<0.01).(7) The flaring liver-fire group was mainly distributed in 1,2 class hypertension and the increase in blood pressure mainly focus on SBP,the deficiency of Yin with excess of Yang group and deficiency of both the Yin and Yang group were both mainly distributed in 2,3 class hypertension and the increase in blood pressure mainly focus on SBP,the interior retention of phlegm dampens group was mainly distributed in 2 class hypertension and the increase in blood pressure mainly focus on DBP.And there was significant difference among the distribution(P<0.01).Conclusions:(1)Vertigo and headache were the main symptoms in essential hypertension, and the main pulse was wiry pulse.(2)The interior retention of phlegm dampens group was the most widely distributed in tcm syndromes.(3)The manifestation of tcm syndrome in patients became severer and severer when the characteristic in tcm pathogenesis of hypertension that a change from excess-syndrome to deficiency-syndrome.(4) There was no significant difference among the distribution in sex.(5) With increasing of age, manifestation of tcm syndrome tended to be aggravated, and flaring liver-fire was the main characteristic in young adults with hypertension, deficiency of Yin with excess of Yang and interior retention of phlegm dampens were the main characteristic in middle-aged and aged hypertension Patients, deficiency of both the Yin and Yang was the main characteristic in aged hypertension.(6)The higher the grade of hypertension, the severer manifestation of tcm syndrome in patients.(7) Deficiency of both the Yin and Yang group was mainly presentated systolichypertension, and interior retention of phlegm dampens was mainly presentated diastolic hypertension.
