PURPOSE:In this study, PACCG and normal control were examined by ultrasound and IOLMaster. The parameters were composed of the depth anterior chamber , the thickness of the lens, the axial length of the eyeball and the lens thickness / axial length ratio .From these data we can tell the biological differences between primary acute angle-closure glaucoma and normal eyes, with a suggest to the early and definite diagnosis of primary acute angle closure glaucoma.Method:We examined 35 patients (70 eyes)of PACCG and 35 cases of normal control (70 eyes) by ultrasound from Quantel company,France and IOLMaster from Zeiss company ,German. There are 12 male (24 eyes), 23 female (46 eyes), aged from 41 to 72,the average of which is 56.5 in the PACCG group and 14 male (28 eyes), 21 female (42 eyes), aged 42 to 74, the average of which is 55.1 in the normal control group. The parameters include the depth anterior chamber , the Thickness of the lens, the axial length of the eyeball and the lens thickness / axial length ratio(the IOLMaster failed to measure the Thickness of the lens). We compared the means of and lens thickness / axial length ratio of the two groups from ultrasound and anterior chamber depth, axial length of the two groups from IOLMaster through t-test. The comparison of the ultrasound and IOLMaster was also included. Results:There are significant differences (P> 0.05)between the parameters of PACCG group and control group, which from ultrasound . The parameters were the same from IOLMaster. There is no significant difference of the axial length from ultrasound and IOLMaster but a lower reading of the anterior chamber depth from ultrasound was noticed and there were significant differences between the results from ultrasound and IOLMaster. Conclusion:PAACG has the feature of shallow anterior chamber, thick lens, short axis length and high lens thickness / axial length ratio, which is an important parameters for the early diagnosis of PAACG. Both the ultrasound and IOLMaster could be chosen for the biometry of PAACG but the measurement of anterior chamber needs further discussion.
