Research On The Simulated Man For Traditional Chinese Medical Training

In the medical schools, there are three kinds of specimens for students'training, the real man, the standard man and the simulated man. As the real man gets more knowledge about his rights, it's difficult to learn from them for the students. Also, the standard man is different from the real man in some aspects, which won't train the students very well, especially for some rare disease. According to"WORLD MEDICAL ASSOCIATION DECLARATION OF HELSINKI", medical research should contain a consideration of the ethic. Using the simulated man for training is a trend in the world. There are some simulated men making a good effort in west medical training, such as abySIM, SIM MAN. However, west medicine is different from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). So the research of TCM simulated man should be taken into practice.Based on some research of simulated man before, the paper develops a TCM simulated man including display unit, ask unit, treat unit, and feedback unit. The paper also develops a database of patients and invites doctors to make the standard for the items of the database. Then students are asked to operate the simulated man for a better use.The main part of the system is the computer. The computer controls the point simulation, the tongue simulation and pulse simulation with PCI card. Also, it communicates with the ask unit, treat unit and feedback unit through the software platform. The display unit could show the patients'information, for example the artery, the tongue, and the point information. Through ask unit, the students could gather more messages about the patients'history. In treat unit, the students could make their own treatment to the patients, on the base of knowledge. The feedback unit could provide the feedback of the treatment and mark the steps made by the students.The software includes the PIODIO.dll and database. With Visual C++ 6.0 and MS ACCESS, the research completes a system recording the patients and students'information using MFC ODBC.Compared to the related technology now, it's easier to operate the TCM simulated man which can be reused without risk. The TCM simulated man has lots of advantages, including realistic, convenient, repeated, recordable and full-included. It constructed a real clinical environment which lets the students master the knowledge learnt in the class. In practice, it makes a good contribution to the development of TCM.
