Clinical Study On Electrial Plum-Blossom Needle For Treatment Of Amblyopia

Purpose: To preliminarily evaluate the efficacy and safety of the electrical plum-blossom needle for treatment of amblyopia, and try to guiding clinical treatment reasonable. We also discussed correlation factors of amblyopia.Methods: There are 106 eyes of 60 patients of amblyopia, who were enrolled and treated in the standard inclusion and exclusion criteria. Ongoing randomized, controlled evaluation electrical plum-blossom needle versus combined modality therapy were adopted in this clinical observation and 4 weeks treatment was offered to each patient. Periodic examinations and inspection of indexes for therapeutic effects, vision, onset time, stereopsis acuity, visual evoked potential, diopter, and correlation factors with age, gender, etiology, types, degree inquiry and inspection were required for each patient.Results: After the treatment, there were 12 eyes with basically cured, 16 eyes with obviously effect, 10 eyes with general effect and 16 eyes with none effect among 30 cases (54 eyes) in treatment group, the total effectiveness level was 70.37%. While there were 6 eyes with basically cured, 10 eyes with obviously effect, 9 eyes with general effect and 28 eyes with none effect among 30 cases (53 eyes) in control group, the total effectiveness level was 47.17%. Ridit test showed that there was significant difference between these two groups, P<0.05. The electrical plum-blossom needle effect in treatment group excelled that in control group. There was not any untoward effect in these two groups.Conclusion: The electrical plum-blossom needle for treatment of amblyopia can improve vision and shorten the treatment process. The method of electrical plum-blossom needle had no side effect, which was easily accepted by patients. People can learn it rapidly and easily.Therefore, it will be of great value for prvention and treatment of amblyopia.
