Aim:To study the change of angiotensin -â…¡(Angâ…¡)in coronary heart disease patients and its association with the level of high sensitive C reactive(hsCRP)protein. Methods:The plasma Angâ…¡level and hsCRP were measured in stable angina pectoris patients(A group,17 cases),unstable angina pectoris patients(B group,15 cases),acute myocardial infarction patients (C group,20 cases)and healthy controls(D group,18 cases). The relation between Angâ…¡level and hsCRP was analyzed by linear regression. Results:The plasma Angâ…¡levels were assessed and found increased in SA,UA and AMI patients compared with healthy controls (P<0.05 or P<0.01).The serum Angâ…¡level especially increased in the AMI group compared with SA and UA group(P<0.01).Significantly increased levels of hsCRP were observed in patients with UAP and AMI (P<0.05 or P<0.01).Even the hsCRP level of the AMI group was more than the level of the SAP and UAP group(P<0.01).In contrast, the levels of hsCRP did not differ significantly between SAP and healthy controls. The circulating Angâ…¡had a positive correlation with the hsCRP(r=0.43, P<0.05). Conclusion:This research demonstrated the renin-angiotensin system was overactivated in coronary heart disease patients especially in acute myocardial infarction patients. The RAS activation in CHD patients probably contributes to the pathogensis of atherosclerosis and this may be associated with the inflammation mechanism.
